Jason Roberts is an idiot. He is articulate but his continuous argument about low % of black people on boards etc. is tedious in the extreme.

1. How many black people applied for those positions? I bet it is a low %.

Meh, he's passionate about it. I'm of the view that if i don't want to hear it i don't have to listen. Whatever the reasons, there is a disparity, and fair enough that some people want to talk about it. I have also unfollowed Roberts on the grounds that

1. He is really not very interesting on Twitter. Never anything related to Reading tweeted.

2. He is not really relevant to Reading FC anymore as it seems highly probably he will never play for us again.

As far as "the joke" is concerned, it was told in the privacy of the England dressing room and no one has made any complaint to any official body about having their feelings hurt by it.

Jason wasn't there so why does he find it necessary to grant himself the moral authority to be outraged on behalf of.... who? - English footballers who weren't offended in the first place?

Jason is a joke now, both on and off the field and I can't help but think he is tarnishing our club with his media outbursts. As others have already posted, I would be happy to see the club pay him off so he's no longer associated with us.

The real irony is that in the parallel that Hodgson was trying to draw through the use of the joke, the 'astronaut' was black! Given that, I'm not sure how any racist element can be argued.

And you are of course correct, the joke was apparently thought up by NASA scientists to take the piss out of their astronauts!
