Two people up against the might of the media does not warrant the nonsense written on here. Nobody is ever going to agree about everything and differing views are allowed on most issues, but the same rules are not applied to race issues, where things are completely one-sided. There is a self-righteous swagger to some of the contributions on here, that I would find very worrying in real life. Thankfully it is just posturing and the internet - I didn't see any disconcertingly rabid individuals thundering up to Jason Roberts and demanding he answer their questions when he was outside the ground signing autographs yesterday.

As I have said before, I'm reasonably confident that every contributor to the thread abhors racism, but thankfully they all have a brain and do not go looking for racism where none exists.

Those in the public eye who do, are playing a somewhat silly game, displaying a degree of (perhaps understandable, but nonetheless totally counter-productive) paranoia. It seriously is reaching a point where people are thinking FFS STFU Jason, and that ain't good because there is a distinct possibility he is losing more support amongst white people than he is gaining.

What this incident highlights, and the same is true of any cause is that there is no one "lobby". There are several different lobbies with different tactics some more militant than others.

Jason's article in the daily mail reads as a climb down from his earlier comments, as it's not even about Roy Hogdson really but is an excuse to get his feelings on the white washed FA panel out in the papers again. Something which does need talking about.

Yeah, Dario Gradi doesn't know anything about youth development - can't have a guy with 35 years' coaching experience on the panel if he's white and Jason doesn't like it. Most folk couldn't give a flying one for gays, blacks, lefties....whatever....they have become (and possibly rightly so) invisible

I have become so tolerant over recent years that I could get a job with the samaritans....

....however it strikes me that some "gays, blacks, lefties, whatever" feel the need to be noticed and to create hysteria wherever they can.

No question Dario Grady is the man when it comes to youth development, he's not one those I was talking about obviously. I doubt Jason thinks he doesn't deserve a place there either. England manager is another obvious appointment. I'm not entirely sure what makes Rio qualified other than being a black player near the end of his career, is he involved in youth development at Manchester united?

Anyway I agree with Jon Barnes on this issue, you can't put someone not qualified onto a panel like this. So the question really should be why are not enough black coaches/dignitaries/whatever qualified enough to be on this panel? Only then if there are you can ask, why aren't there they there.


The answer the both questions I actually don't know the answer.
