Sport Economist Some interesting thoughts on the McDermott regime so far from a Leeds fans:

http://thetwounfortunates.com/synchronised-treading-water-with-leeds-united/
It's a long piece and discussion of McDermott only really kicks in half way in but it's a well written lament.

Interesting piece. I am still amazed that BMcD was tempted by LUFC but perhaps he had no other options. It is a bad fit for him for so many reasons - a club in terminal decline with next to no chance of upward progression but still lumbered with out of date optimism. It's a 'lose, lose' situation for Brian and one I'm sure he will privately regret. The LUFC fans will eventually get on hos back and he'll leave. He could have added to his stock and enhanced his reputation by taking a smaller club, without the millstone of misplaced expectation, up to the next level - a Yeovil or a Bournemouth perhaps. Oh well.

Until he gets sacked in a few months. Leeds are toilet anyway, they haven't been a massive club for 10 years.

He did not need to work after his pay off fron Reading. If Leeds do sack him he will get another massive pay off. Far better to take the job at Leeds as the possible rewards are so great succeed or fail. Sadly thats football npw

Leeds are still potentially a massive club though, being the manager who can get them out of the Championship and consolidate in the Premier League is likewise a massive draw.

Financially they're not a big club right now but they're an attractive club at this level.

Sometimes I think the size of a club is less about the tangible attributes and more about the 'power' which is pretty much directly associated with current league position, finance and success.

In that sense, Leeds WERE a big club but aren't really a powerhouse any more.

I would suggest that other teams are concerned about the Leeds, Wolves of this country, untill it turns out that they are not very good. Wolves have found a level, but failing to go up this season will make next season harder IMHO. No one really thinks we will do it, QPR are the team this division fears, but are they really ripping it apart, it seems not.

So as the season goes on Harry may find things harder than he thought.

Even with their recent woes they're still years ahead of us in terms of club Size. Imo
When we've won cups and top leagues maybe we could claim to be bigger.
Maybe

You do know that like us Leeds are the proverbial runners up. Before 1963 they were nothing.
The only thing they have is a bigger fan base, as they are from a bit much bigger than Reading.
As for massive clubs. There are three in this country, Man Utd, Liverpool, and Arsenal.

Of course they were, as were many of Liverpool, United and Arsenals successes.

All depends on your definition of massive of course, but if they've been massive in the past (when by the above definition of only 3 massive clubs in the country they never have been) then they're still potentially massive now. As a club they're still as big, just not as successful recently.
