In pre teen years I would sit on the wall behind the goal at the town end at Elm Park and saw Terry Bell score a number of outrageously brave headers a couple following Cummings mazey wing-play.
Yes there have been others since but those headers of Bells are indelibly imprinted within synapses.

Terry Bell scored an outrageous header at Villa, which sadly got us relegated into Div 4 for the first time in our history. It was an own goal and was only scored because a Villa player (can't remember his name but I'm sure someone will) shoved Bell in the back as he went up to clear a corner. To add insult to injury, the Villa player admitted doing it and apologised after the game.

Still think Quinn was the best of them all.

I know the question was really asking which Reading player was our best ever header of a ball but in my opinion the best ever header of a ball at Reading was actually one of it's managers and not a player manager like Jimmy Quinn but our manager from 1972 to 1977 - Charlie Hurley. At his playing prime he was one of the best headers of a ball in English football and was a pretty handy player on the ground as well being named as Sunderland's best player of the 20th century.
