I can't stand his interviews. Don't give a toss about a summary of the match I have just watched that's what sky sports is for!! He always seems to do it

The only time I hear Nigel talk is when he is being interviewed by Dim Tellor. If I was asked questions trying to catch me out by a smug sounding, almost smirking public schoolboy (who is so obviously is MD's mate) I would be reluctant to give him any answer. DT's movtivation seems to try and catch out Adkins or find some nugget to magnify into something negative i.e. this weekend - 17k attendance is rubbish - fans voting with their feet (btw same as SWed), MacCarthy in goal instead of Feds (keepers are unhappy and will leave), Morrisons 'knock' - he's injured and should have been subbed.

I like Nigel.

Liking him or not is of very little importance. Alex Ferguson wasn't the most likeable guy, but look at the results he achieved.

Actually it's very important. Ferguson had a big connection with that club and you knew he cared about them, you only have to read Sven talking about how Ferguson used to ring him early in the morning shouting and telling him not to pick certain players to realise that. Results helped of course but he had the club at heart and fans recognised that. People need to identify with their club and the manager is a big part of that.

That's what it's really about. Adkins may very well be a nice guy behind the scenes but in his interviews he doesn't come across well like other managers have done in the past and he doesn't seem to have the personality that works at Reading.

He clearly needs time. He has brought three players in and two of them are injured. As many have said he was probably given the impression that there was more money to spend than seems the case. To be fair to him, what turned us around two years ago was the arrival and performance of Jason Roberts. He has no player like that to build this team around. I think we sometimes forget how far we have come. I spent my formative years watching amongst others Barrow, Darlington and a load of others whose players are posting letters during the week. We are 5th in Division 2 (in old money) let's relax a little and give our manager time.
