maffff Talking of needing another left[/centre] back, we did recently sign Lasha Dvali - 18 year old Georgian from Skonto Riga...... at that age he must be signed with one eye on the first team?

Trying to tempt Zurab back no doubt.

Did he definitely sign? He was mentioned in the same article as Vastsuk (who has now started getting some games for the U18's) but iirc it only said discussions were at an advanced stage.

This article (http://www.worldsport.ge/en/page/lasha-dvali-redingshi-chairicxa) seems to suggest that the deal is now done. Nothing official from us though, perhaps we're having to wait until January.

He's gone from Skonto, completely disappeared. Their president confirmed since the article on our website that he left for us.

It wasn't advanced discussions, it was signed subject to work permit. Reading then said he might go back to Skonto for the rest of the season, but this doesn't appear to have happened.

Between Hector and Cooper we have two very promising young centre-backs.

You think Pearce is promising? He's slow, doesn't read the game well enough, and has a turning circle of a JCB.

...and was Player of the Season 18 months ago, in a title winning side.

Probably more to do with the training academy that Gorkss setup out in Latvia last year I'd imagine.

There might be opportunities in January if the likes of Gorks opt to move on / go out on loan to get regular first team football.

Centre Back is a position in which it's been widely acknowledged on here that we're lacking - so you're suggesting that Gorkss (experienced, double Championship winner) goes out for someone like Hector to get a chance?

Yep, same. Taylor had a great pre-season and has started to feature as a sub. Next season is a big season for him (if we stay down) when some of the big earners leave.

I'd say he'd already appeared in the league before 28 October.

Some of the forwards will have to be introduced next season so the likes of Tanner, Samuel (when fit) and Ugwu. If we don't go up we will need Pav off the wage bill and Le Fondre will be snapped up by a prem side, most likely.

One or more of Tanner, Ugwu and Samuel have a great chance next season. If we fail to get promoted this season, we are in a very difficult position financially. While some just shrug their shoulders and say we'll lose Pog, Guthrie, Kelly, Roberts, Leigertwood.. and that's a big saving, the reality will be that a lot more will need to go that just those five. We will have a very small amount of money to bring anyone in, and so the academy will be the main focus this summer. Great news for those fringe youngsters, but too many too soon could be at our disadvantage, especially if we lose a lot of experience in the same window. It'll be an interesting summer!

I wouldn't worry too much about losing Le Fondre. We only have two natural strikers here - Pog and Alfie. Both will not be allowed to leave, that would be almost suicidal; that is unless it meant Sharp could come in, and then we looked at the academy to provide another two/three strikers.
