winchester_royal But isn't the point of fake injuries to cover up the fact that they're not playing?

What's the point of then saying they're no longer if the supposed financial situation that forced their withdrawal in the first place still remains?

Unless this is all part of a longer game that leads to an even more serious 'fake' injury caused in Friday's training session when an Alfie horror challenge breaks Williams' leg in 3 different places

Damn, that is fcuking genius :!:

Seems like Danny Williams' injury hell may not be over just yet, dropped out of training today #readingfc

grey_squirrel So since this thread has now morphed into an "Injury, or not an injury" thread, how about considering the following

Pre 1990 (or thereabouts, whatever)

There was only one substitute
There was a first team playing squad of, what, 15, genuinely?
They used to 'train' on public parks
There was no such thing as a 'sports scientest'
There was no such thing as a 'goalkeeping coach'
Many players never wore shinpads (or any other form of protection)
The pitches resembled Glastonbury
The players ate and drank what they liked
The players did and went out where and when they liked
They earned f/ck all
In gametime and in training, they clobbered each other like a game of British Bulldogs
There was no such thing as a 'scan'
There was such a thing as a cold sponge (and that was it)
And yet
They still turned up and played (more often than not, barring a broken leg or fractured jaw)
And today
They have the polar opposites of everything noted above and yet are sicknotes for weeks or months with "an impact injury".
Who are the mugs here?

When you condition someone to the peak of fitness, you push them closer to their limits and therefore make more injuries more likely and more debilitating to their ability to perform at that peak fitness.

It looks pretty clear from the older games I've seen the massive difference in fitness and conditioning in players then and now.

tee peg The new training ground is being financed by the club and not Comrade Anton.

Well theres a surprise, not.

Training ground will cost less that the wages of a russian forward. to get up and running.

It's always been 22 blokes running around after a football for 90 mins, most of this reading first team would not have survived in the 60's and 70's even with their supposedly better conditioning.
At some point it comes down to team spirit and personal bottle, and this present lot don't have either.

Just starting to wonder if there is any link between the buyout and Drenthe not being around. He has earned some serious money in his time and the club are saying nothing on the link between these rumours which they are also saying nothing about.

Worrying times

Yeah, we have no right whatsoever to know what is going on with the club we invest in.

Whose idea was it for the "club" to buy the new training ground? Is this using parachute money then?

Not sure it works like that, mate. You could always buy a ticket and find out for yourself though.
