loyalroyal4life Gunter is awful, if we had one person who could actually put in a decent whipped ball every so often we would be doing pretty well

Gunter was good today, as he has been for most of the season.

Not sure what you define as good, but IMO Gunter is shocking, would prefer cummings at rb and bridge at left

People have got short memories. Wasn't that long ago that Shaun Cummings was the worst player in the world. Can you explain what you think Gunter did wrong today?

Kebe's apprentice ... we are so bad at Throw ins. We cannot create space when we have a throw, and fail to mark players when the opposition have a throw.

Absolutely!! Surely this is something that can be sorted out in training. We seldom win the ball from our throw-ins and hardly ever pressure the opposition for theirs. Only Pog and Guthrie (and sometimes McCleary) try to move into space for ours but it can take what seems an age for us to take our throws sometimes. Sort it Adkins!

Didn't see that tbf, but it was blatantly obvious that someone needed to be stood behind BAE

Sharp was only on for 7 minutes, but he showed a few good touches, looks like Pog is an automatic choice now, so the others are fighting for one spot[/quote]

You need a goal and you have 2 strikers on the bench 1 who hasnt kicked a ball in anger for 2 months and one who is born to score goals , which one do you put on ......................

And then take McCleary off as well ...............

Adkins must go

What I have noticed from the few games I have caught and any highlights showing throw ins is that we set up as if we are going to take a long throw but then take it short.. We at max have 2 men coming to retrieve it which would be fine if we occasionally threw it long..

windermere_royal why did Gunter jump out of the way of the free kick? was the ball too muddy and didn`t want to get his shirt dirty?

I like Gunter but that is now twice this season that his poor defending from freekicks has cost us a goal (Doncaster was the previous occasion when it was clear that Adkins' post match criticism was aimed at him). Today he clearly turned away sideways as Barton's freekick was fired in and the ball went through the resulting gap in the wall. Had Gunter stayed square on the ball would have hit him, as is the purpose of a wall. Yes, the ball may have struck his upper arm but, given that his arm was pressed firmly into his side, even the slap-head fool in charge of today's game would have been hard-pressed to award a penalty.

Interestingly after the game McCarthy expressed disappointment that he'd let the ball in on his side but the ball came through the gap left by Gunter, rather than around the wall, so he was wrong to criticise himself.

So more work with Gunter by the defensive coaching team please!

The wall for the free kick was set up all wrong - it wasn't lined up properly and Alex had positioned himself so that he couldn't see the ball until it was too late. None of that was Gunter's fault.

Cureton's Volley Barton cleaned Pog out just after his yellow, and nothing from the ref.

Also:

Clear stamp.

He also throws a water bottle at him - https://vine.co/v/hI2vv1jKwYl

I was p*ssed off when I first saw this picture on twitter but, having watched the video, it is clear that this and the water bottle incident was just Barton larking around with a former team-mate (although Guthrie did't appear overly amused at the time!).

However, Barton is still a disgusting thuggish cheat - evidenced by the way he went down clutching his face in front of the ref when HRK merely put his arm across his chest/stomach as they jostled for the ball. That was a clear case of simulation in an attempt to get HRK sent off.

Watch it again. It doesn't matter how the wall was lined up, the ball went through the gap that was left by Gunter turning sideways on as the ball went towards him - completely his fault. Had he stayed still he would have blocked the attempt.

Had the ball gone through the gap left by Guthrie, the goal should have been disallowed as their player clearly shoves Guthrie to his right to create a gap.

Apart from his part in the QPR goal, I thought Gunter had another good game.

McCarthy was to blame for a shocking wall, although he would have gotten away with it if Gunter had not moved. Also think Guthrie could have got something on it.

I like all the criticism of McCarthy and Gunter for the goal. If Gorkss hadn't lunged like a total clown it wouldn't have been an issue. You could see from the second the QPR player slightly mis-controlled it that we were going to conceed from a freekick.

I agree that it was a stupid challenge, but McCarthy and Gunter should have done better.

I thought we played pretty well today-but summed up the team we are-after 10 minutes on the back foot-we then looked the best team for nearly an hour, but just weren't clinical enough to make this tell-in theory however we were short three of our best players in Drenthe/Williams/Bridge-but there again it looks as if they are not going to make much of a contribution to our season.

McCarthy 5: Woeful kicking. He will not be going to Rio until he improves his kicking-looked at fault for the way the wall for their free kick was set up.
Gunter 6: Not as up and down the field as usual-worried about Hoilet and Johnson getting behind him.
Kelly 7 : Defensively superb , but offers little going forward.
Morrison 7: Hardly gave Austin a sniff, but not really captain material.
Gorks 6 : Started horrendously , but got better the longer the game went on-deserves a run in the team.
Guthrie 7: Not quite at his best-now looks crocked.
Baird 7: Usual reliable performance, but nothing game breaking-sign him up and make him captain.
Obita 6: One of his best games.
McCleary 7 : Great goal-but pretty much disappeared after that.
Pog 8 : Worked his socks off -but missed a great chance in 1st half.
Kanu 6: Had to sacrifice himself by picking up Barton, and this took him almost completely out of the game.

Subs-little or no contribution.

Ref: TBF I have seen worse, but still not good enough-East stand Lino was particularly bad.

QPR fans pretty loud until we scored

JR
Ref was best of the season by a long way - only one incorrect decision IMHO

 Have the rest really been even more shyte?

The bald pratt today was absolutely shocking - got loads wrong (not all working against us either e.g. missing Guthrie blocking their free kick).

His positioning was also dire - kept getting in the channels as we broke forward and on several occasions obstructed one of our players who was trying to work break through the centre (didn't seem to have an awareness of where players were and where they were likely to be moving to).

Watch again - Guthrie was shoved and then held out of the way by their player in the wall (clearly the reason he went into the wall in the first place). The wall was lined up fine - Barton would have had great difficulty getting the ball over it and back down again, and didn't try to swerve the ball around it. He hit the ball hoping to exploit the hole created by his team-mate shoving a defender out of the way and actually found the hole kindly created by Gunter turning sideways!

Ian Royal QPR Marginally better. No real end product from us and not a lot more.from qpr.
Lost 2 points thanks to a stupid gorkss lunge reminiscent of sonko at his worst.
Good goal from mccleary. Didn't see him delivef a lot else but mcanuff was sensational when he came on and gets a 9
Woeful crossing. Pick a man not hit and hope!
Good saves from mccarthy.
Subs too late.
Where was alf?
Baird still not hugely impessing me.
We give too muc space.in midfield and around our box.

Decent but disappointing result.

I have only seen it live so I must have missed that. Annoying how teams out players in the wall to shove others out of the way. Surprised that doing that is not seen as a foul.

The wall was fine, exactly where you would want it to be for that type of free kick, it just didn't do its job. The back 4 and Baird hardly gave them a sniff until Andrew Johnson came on and was given too much time to run with the ball, Morrison was solid and felt sorry for korks as he hasn't played for so long and then found himself against one of the favourites for automatic, I'm sure if he looks back on the free kick he would be disappointed jumping in there

Obita and pog played well today, with obita linking up well with the ball inside and not just running with the ball, he is doing just as good as drente did before he got injured. HRK for me looks like a make shift for either ALF or sharp.

Did wonder about the late subs today when we looked tired with 10-15 left on the clock, felt they could of been earlier

Overall decent point for both sides I think
