Just because the player considers himself ready doesn't mean he is. I've played at times (although no where near their level) when I really shouldn't have but was desperate to get back playing as I missed it so much and ended up being worse off.

Drenthe struggled when he was "fit" before the injury

Two days before the Sheff Wed game, he said he was running in boots for the first time in six weeks and that he hoped he'd be back in a week. Absolutely no way he'll be anywhere near match fitness.

The BBC Berks interview with NA after QPR kind of summed it up with Drenthe. NA said something about he needs to get his head down and get match fit. Apparently Drenthe thinks he's ready but NA doesn't think so. Gooding said when watching the 6 aside training he scored a worldy goal. Looks like Drenthe is frustrated that he has the skill but not the fitness to get back in the side as McAnuff went up to him after put his arm round him and probably offered words of encouragement. That was Gooding's take on it anyway.
