Hoop Blah Swings & Smiles wasn't the clubs or WAGS charity it's an independant charity that I think the Murty's supported.

I'd be surprised if Murty was skimming money from the WAGS charitable work, but like WR says, it's quite a claim to put in writing if there's nothing to back it up, unless the defence is that he hasn't said he was doing it just that there was a rumour he was and it led to a big fall out.

but hes a secret footballer and no names were mentioned, so we dont know who it is, and therefore dont know who the captain is, or the club.
would be pretty tough making a libel claim stick on that imo

its like me standing on the street shouting "someone i know did something dodgy!"

It wouldn't be hard for a legal team to find out who the secret footballer is, and then the people he is talking about would be obvious based on the information he has given.

Anonymity is not a defence.

Not quite Melon. It would be like you hiding behind a window, dressed in a burkha, and shouting "someone I know did something dodgy"

I read the first book very recently, and in it was a story which indicated to me that the Secret Footballer was a Reading player and probably (with a lot of the other "clues") Kitson, as I had heard that same story about a specific RFC player sometime earlier.

Incidentally, the charity set up by the WAG's after (the first) promotion to the Premier League was called The Royal's Families rather than Swings and Smiles.

Maybe it is DK, however, if you were trying to cover your tracks and retain your anonymity, then maybe you would load your points with titbits to make it sound like it was somebody else (DK??) making them.

A little like what some do on here

I do think "In 2012, I signed a deal that I was not expecting. The club involved had lost a player in circumstances I cannot go into... His spot of bother" is a massive giveaway.

2012... Sheffield United lost Ched Evans in the spring/summer, confirmed in autumn when appeal rejected.

I'm sure the Murty apologists will be along soon, but this all sounds about right for him.

Greg Halford practically named and shamed. LOL. He's not even remotely subtle anymore.

Got the book, am only on pg15 and already you can tell its Kitson

"In 2012 I signed a deal that I was not expecting. The club suddenly lost a player in circumstances I can't go into and wanted me to fill the void until he got himself out of his spot of bother. I didn't want to sign if truth be told."

Chef Evans jailed for rape on April 2012
Kitson signs for Sheffield Utd in August 2012

"In the last few years I have played against two former clubs. In one match I left the field to fans singing my name; in the other I barely made it out the stadium"

Reading v Sheffield Utd
Portsmouth v Sheffield Utd

"Secondly, the club was in financial trouble and owed its players a lot of money"

Portsmouth

Yeah, I posted the Ched Evans thing elsewhere. At that point, it was like he wasn't even trying to hide it anymore.

I also got the book, on pg 78 he says "I am Dave Kitson", which to me is a pretty big hint.

Also we sung his name at Fratton Park where he scored the only goal as we lost 1-0. He slapped his chest to us as we sung, "Kitson is a Royal" or maybe What a Bargain chant.

scumbag I've been a long term reader of The Secret Footballer's online articles and i'm 99% sure it's our bargain that is Dave Kitson.
His second book came out yesterday and i've just been having my first flick through it and i'm quite suspicious over the last part of the chapter 'Charity begins at home' which details an account of a charity created at his club to keep the wives busy (Swings & Smiles?).
The story goes that the club's captain was in his testimonial year yet was being refused one by the chairman due to his opinion that footballer's already earnt enough (familiar?) and it's became clear to many of the players that there were dodgy dealings going on behind the scenes of the charity and he was profiting from it to compensate himself. TSF says this lead to the captain being ostracised and the team fell apart and it can all be pinpointed from this incident.

Just got to this bit....
Who do you think was the player that the club colour run through his veins?

Also, do you think that the player who boarded a rich chairmans boat, who then offered him £30k a week to hand in a transfer request was Doyle or maybe Hunt?

I'd say Bryn or Ivar for your first part.

For the second part, I don't think it's Doyle. More likely, Shorey or Hunt.

Sidwell? Although I guess he didn't hand in a transfer request just said he wasn't signing a new contract.
