The wall was too far right (from this view) - the ball went where Gunter is stood, which isn't part of the wall. So really McC should have been more to his left as well as the wall. Then it would have been saved, and if it went in the other corner then fair play to Barton for getting it up and over the wall from that close

Terminal Boardom Wasn't the free kick that led to the equaliser fairly central? Probably the worst place to defend as the keeper will line up the wall to defend one side and he looks after the other. Anyone remember this from a few years back (2.45 onwards) http://youtu.be/9Vyz1NqssIE
That said, it was hit with plenty of accuracy and pace.

Big Foot In a situation like Saturday, when it's clear the player is going to shoot - why not stick a defender on the post?

bcubed What is most surprising about this to me is that Gorkss is escaping without any criticism.
It was his reckless, unnecessary and badly timed challenge which led to this goal

Tbh he couldn't get much worse than the first 5 minutes. I'd never seen a player get nutmegged by a speculative cross before, but Gorkss managed it in the third minute. Even better, just two minutes later, he again managed to scissor a QPR cross through his own legs.

floyd__streete Yeah, this is a peculiar one tbh, people trying to pin it on McCarthy . Wall arranged, Gunter clearly moves out of the way of the travelling ball and therefore - once again - fails to do his job properly.

Hoop Blah Gunter still moves out of the way of the ball as it travelled directly into the corner of the net. It doesn't matter if he's part of the wall or not, if he stood his ground the ball wouldn't have got past him.
