Handsome Man There was a Bournemouth game at the end of the season when we lost to Walsall in Cardiff, when Caskey came off the bench to bring it back to 3-3 and keep them out of the play-offs. They seemed like really close rivals then, bought loads of fan who clearly hated us and made lots of noise, so it has been a pity we haven't played them much since. I am all for their t shirts.

That was a gr8 game, Defoe scored a couple for them and we came back from 3-1 down (I think) to stop them joining us in the play-offs.

Wasn't that the game where two very large Army helicopters hovered over the ground and some guys rappelled out of them to the pitch??

From the top of the Upper West, you couldn't see the helicopters; you could just hear the noise......

I only remember a helicopter at one game - that was RFC v West Ham in 2003-2004 or something similar, think we won 2-0?

and Murty headed off the line in injury time. God bless.

If he hadn't we would have had to play this in-form Bournemouth team in the PO's instead of Wigan. Grimmo,

Are we sure they aren't just rebelling against the educashun system and it's nothing to do with us?

It was indeed

An Army Air Corp Lynx and a Gazelle IIRC

3-3 the score.....the look of wonderent from the Bournemouth fans....things that hover in the sky

Dont really get their hatred of us...it is barely reciprocated....lots of us have a vague interest in their affairs, and even sometimes want them to win

Poor old crap Bournemouth; their history is worse than ours.

Way back in the dark days of Div 3 South; we played them every bloody season (I'm not that old to have seen it! )

However, I do remember the last game of the McGhee promotion season.

That was away @ Bournemouth.

Every pub was shut except a Gay Pub - very clever Bournemouth Dick, sorry, I mean Bournemoth Nick, and at game with a Reading pitch invasion too. Maybe this is one reason for this scary hatred.

Anyone other Reading fan scared to go to the game now...

Oh, the crowd went mild (sic)

floyd__streete LOL @ Clyde1988, put all that effort in to sound like an absolute HOMO

Edit: oh what a surprise, he's only been supporting Reading for the last decade

2nd Edit: What in the actual f*ck is this Royals Rendezvous website :|

The Royals Rendezvous – the 1871 Club – was formed over the Christmas-New Year period of 2010-2011. Many of its initial members were regular contributors to the BBC 606 service – alas, no longer in operation – who wished for a more specialized Reading FC orientated forum, whilst maintaining the good spirited type of conversation and banter that the BBC tried to promote.

In its first two years of existence, the Royals Rendezvous is achieving outstanding success, with new members signing up continuously, and the member base itself extremely active. Over 600 members, over 100,000 posts is proof enough of the growing role of this specialist Reading FC fans forum web site. It is already recognized in other sporting circles as a major source of news and fan interaction (especially that related to Reading Football club of course), and has a strong and enthusiastic moderation team.

Royals Rendezvous has also developed fine relations with many other specialist football forums, especially with teams of our own league.

You’re currently viewing our forum as a guest. This means you are limited to certain areas of the board and there are many features you cannot use.

However, if you are a fan of another team you are currently allowed to post in “Rivals, but Friends” and the "Other Matches" sections, strictly abiding by the language decency standards that Royals Rendezvous maintains. No aggressive posts, wind-ups or swearing or the post will be edited/deleted. But please read on....

Anyone who used the phrase 'BANTER' in a non-ironic way is a d*ck.

LOL @ No aggressive posts, wind-ups or swearing. This is the Craig Mortimer-Zhika of message boards.

Site for grown ups not up their arses fourth form schoolboys I think :D

I always think of Lee Evans when Bournemouth is mentioned;

All very strange the Bournemouth hatred. They barely register to me. I don't like them, but then again that's a fairly standard feeling for the vast majority of clubs in the league, but the fact they have taken the time and effort to produce these t-shirts is all rather charming really. I hope I see one of their lot wearing one tomorrow :) And let's not ignore the fact that of a 4,200 end they can only bring 2,500 to a club they despise probably more than any other.

That 3-3 at the end of the season, Jesus I'm glad we drew that game because we'd have been humiliated in the playoffs I think. Bournemouth had a right march on that season, the game at Dean Court in early April we got absolutely battered and somehow came away with a 2-1 win and they did a similar thing in the 3-3, Wade Elliott scoring twice in the first half sandwiched by Jermain Defoe's effort. Butler pulled one back at 2-0, before Caskey's first touch brought us back into it and Forster's first of the season equalised. Fozzie'd done his cruciate against Charlton in pre-season, if it wasn't for that we'd have never seen Cureton in a Reading shirt. Every cloud and all that...

Don't you believe it. I know enough of their old timers to know that isn't the case.

They're not particularly close geographically, but I guess with Southampton and Portsmouth being close too but hating each other, it's hard to find a rival. Shame it's not reciprocated really, one of those non-local derbies that's only really seen from one side.
