He only really operates in a 2-2-6 formation. Playing him from the beginning is like having ten men, but he is probably the best striker in the division for a final ten minutes when you are 2-0 down.

We won' t miss him but he would be quite difficult to sell as most teams watch a player as well as looking at his statistics, and he doesn't do enough things well.

The title of this thread is completely the wrong question.

Based on how we the team is currently playing, the question should be: 'How many Premiership goals did Alfie create for himself?'

The answer must be very few, if any. And that is the reason he isn't starting games. He is only really effective if the team is creating chances for him or if he is coming on near the end of games when defences are tiring and/or beginning to lack full concentration.

The truth of the matter is that Sharp and Pog are far stronger all round players who work really hard for the team and are capable of creating a few chances for themselves. That is why they are getting the nod ahead of Alf.

And if Alf leaves and starts scoring goals elsewhere from the start of games then have a good look at the way his new team is playing and the chances they are creating for him before claiming that your argument is proven.

Most scouts leave 10 minutes before the end to avoid the traffic on the way home so unless they watched the MOTD/Championship highlights they wouldn't rate him.

He's got an assist.

7 goals is a pretty good return. Especially seeing as he's been in and out of the side. I don't think he's ever had a fair crack of the whip in a side playing well here. But At the moment I'm not complaining because with Pog and Sharp, we actually have players capable of rivaling his goal scoring and possibly adding more. Unlike many of the older days when we had Hunt and Church or an out for form Pog or an injured Roberts.

I think he'll get more game time after Christmas. There's a good chance that both Pog and Sharp won't be here come February if our ownership position remains unresolved. SJM won't want to keep funding the wage bill. Alf and Blackman up front for us!
