BFTG Huddersfield Town

Another poor performance. Created absolutely nothing much of any note before or after the one we managed to get on target but managed to cling on for the rest of the games thanks to Huddersfield's dreadful finishing.

Reading boss Nigel Adkins:
"We knew this would be a challenging fixture and it's good to come away with the three points.
"Billy Sharp scored the only goal but we could have scored three or four. We were very offensive in our mindset, we saw the game out and won quite comfortably.
"There were two good teams on the pitch but our victory was well deserved and it's another three points on the road."

Nige always seems to be watching a different game from us fans!

From what I've heard another poor performance but at the end of the day the 3 points is the most important thing and we have got them today.

We do need to pick up a great deal though, performance wise, to maintain this play-off position

First half I thought we played pretty well, a lot of possession but no real chances.

We pretty well took the only chance we had and clung on. Some typically dire play in the second half where we are suddenly incapable of passing at all. All the play seemed to be at the other end of the pitch and there was little to really get excited about except the goal.

We won because we were marginally less shit that Huddersfield who were tidy but had zero threat up front. They hit the post and could of got onto the end of a few crosses, but McCarthy was pretty untroubled.

Player wise no one really stood out except Pog who again worked his socks off and was a handful even if he created nothing. Pearce continues to annoy me with his 90% hit rate of finding the opposition with his headers or hoofing it into touch when under no pressure, Gorkss looking either steady or like a headless chicken, Drente great skill but incapable of running into space, etc.

Still a great day out, Pie and Peas in the Snugglers and a couple of cracking pints of Tim Taylor.

Sounds like most of our home games this year. Why do we fade so much in the 2nd half?

Poor performance, but 3 points. How many times do we have to say that this season?

Drenthe was awful, seriously shocking.

Pog was the best player but needs to start chasing balls down. McCarthy excellent but distribution was terrible. Obita and Sharp decent as well.

Hudders should have smashed us, but their finishing was appalling.

Awful support, Hudders fans one of the better home supports this year.

Edit: Oh, and that Akpan shot, highlight of the game for comedy reasons.

Getting a little concerned with some of his comments, said we played well last week too

Has there been a game this season splitting fans opinion more than thus one? Random comments all round from this match.

Seems to be a split between good away performance and resilience without playing particularly good footall, and terrible performance we only won with one bit of quality and thanks to the profligacy of Huddersfield.

To be honest, from the reviews and listening I can't help but think neither are necessarily that innaccurate and it's just two sides of the same coin. If you see what I mean.

I've got to agree with all of the above. That swing and miss was a thing of beauty. The whole crowd almost pissed their pants.

The three points shouldn't distract us from the decline in Reading's performances.

I get the feeling that we will miss out on the play-offs, while those b[a]stards from Oxford celebrate a promotion to League one. :(

 I'd assumed it was a missed volley, or at least a ball that was travelling a bit.
