Oilroyal
yuuichi
Oilroyal He's not all that loaded but seems sound and has a genuine interest in English football.

Not this again...

He,s worth 570 million apparently money from oil and gas ... A tad less then when SJM sold Autotrader which was 670million pre tax

How much? It was about £180m wasn't it?

Edit: Wiki says he sold his company Hurst Publishing for £174 million.

In 09 his estimated wealth was £250m. Since then he has suffered numerous losses with his printing company and Sackville.

IF this is true then according to wiki he is 73, he is an honorary general in the British army and is head of the Omani police, army, Air Force and navy. He also has a heap of British honourary Knighthoods...

I'd settle for someone who shows an interest in the club, community, and the development of our own talent; keeps the club running on sound business principals; and provides funding at opportunistic times that takes the club to a different level. Don't need some mega rich despot to completely change the composition of the club.

In other words, I'm hoping for someone to be all that I thought Anton would be.

According to this years list of richest Royals Qaboos Bin Said, the Sultan of Oman has a net worth of £6 Billion Plus. His riches are accounted to surplus oil production, He owns a 500 ft yacht, and the Al Alam Royal Palace, the residence of the Sultan, which overlooks the serene Muscat harbour. The regal palace is an exquisite marvel of art and architecture. His wealth is based upon Oil reserves, global properties, global investments and international family interests.

FTR forbes has him at 1.1billion this year

He has a 100 million dollar yacht which is a fairly large expenditure if he only has 600 million, my guess is these figures are all over the place because no one really knows.

Ooo, Sultan Qaboos..... he's a good lad. Oman, beautiful country, quite unlike the Benidorm of the Gulf that is Dubai. Muscat has a pulse and rhythm all of its own, you know.

The Sultan is knocking on a bit and Oman has always been regarded as the runt of the GCC litter but has recently come into its own with some interesting gas exploration and, err, the prospect of fracking. It also has a strategically important port - Salalah, lovely place - in which it is investing heavily.

He also has a predilection for largessing Ferrari's - black ones - to impressionable young men, allegedly. He's also very cultural, like, which know doubt enamours him to SJM.

The Sultan may not be minted like most GCC Royals, but his family is certainly not short of a bob or three.

Did I mention that the Omanis are lovely people? Quite unlike the rest of the Gulfies.

Great great post.

2008 the Telegraph listed his NET worth as follows
10 Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman
Age: 67
Net worth: £590.1 million
He assumed the throne in 1970 after overthrowing his father, who had kept him under house arrest for six years. The sultan's fortune derives from oil. He is currently investing in Oman's tourism industry.

Other more recent lists have him listed at between 1.1billion to 6 billion ... I'd prefer to go with his NET worth even if it is outdated.

Even though the global economy has been through such a turbulent time, with oil producers cashing in big time for the last 5 years since the Telegraph article?

I suspect you'll find he's somewhere in the (very wide) range of later estimates......
