City V Liverpool was a cracker for the neutral, 2 teams really going for it. Miles better than the snoozfest that was Arsenal Vs Chelsea where both teams appeared petrified of losing so just sat back doing not much at all

Definitely. They were two very good teams and it made excellent viewing for a neutral. The way Liverpool's passing kept on ending up with Sterling or Coutinho free was football of the highest quality, yet City are matchless when Toure is in the mood.

Rodgers has shown himself to be an excellent manager, given the mess the club was in when he joined. Getting the best out of Suarez cannot be easy; getting the best out of Jordan Henderson is miracle working.

Victor Meldrew In fact Rodgers seldom says much about the officials whereas Mourinho, Wenger et al never blame their own players-it is ALWAYS the ref''s fault and do you remember an old boy called Ferguson?

I think a lot of managers complain about poor decisions, and by and large you have to take it on the chin. However Rodgers crossed a line and questioned why a ref from Greater Manchester should referee a game involving a Manchester team. That's accusing the ref of bias, which is clearly not on.

He's also stupid as the major decision was the offside call that had nothing to do with the ref, and was just a poor decision from the lino. There was never a chance of Suarez getting a penalty given the way he exaggerates all contact and throws his arms in the air, and the fact that Skrtel had equally been fouling City players.

The questioning of where the ref comes from has cropped up before so Rodgers is far from being the first-mind you I think they are nearly all moaners and Ferguson was the worst for so many years followed by Mourinho and Wenger and Brendan is still at Conference level in the moaning stakes whereas old red face was European champion.

It is typical of any manager to blame the officials when their own players miss several chances. The one Sterling had in the second half was easier to score. Throw in the misjudgement of Mignolet for what turned out to be the winner and there was only ever going to be one outcome. Cracking game though and played in an excellent spirit.

Interesting read on former Liverpool & Oldham player Wayne Harrison who died on Christmas day at the age of 46

Worlds most expensive teenager at 18, retired at 23 having only ever played 10 professional games and never made an appearance in the top division

Liverpool really skanking it from rubbish Stoke mistakes and an awful decision

The Sterling pen ..... never a pen and it was handball as he won it imo. Would be fuming if I were Hughes

And how was that not a handball against Suarez?? Just because your arms are in front of your chest doesn't mean it wasn't intentional, it just means you're a wimp

I would be incredibly cross if I was a Stoke fan. No penalty, and the two goalscorers didn't celebrate the goals. Crouch and Adam were shit at Liverpool and didn't last long. They should be a bit more enthused about their current clubs.

I hate the not-celebrating malarky.

Just shows how thoroughly cynically uncommitted they are imo and is disrespectful to their current club

Considering he is in a team with Suarez and Gerrard for comparison, it is surprising how unlikeable Sterling is.
