Will95 Williams for me, Pog second.

Williams was great on the ball, but he struggled to win the ball back.

Williams is an odd one. Shows moments of obvious quality, particular on the ball driving at the defence, and is an impressive physical specimen. He seems to have everything you'd want in a midfielder, but too often he goes missing in games and rarely makes a real impact. Is he just not all that bright? Or is he a victim of downward that the team is currently in?

Discuss.

He's just a bit of a lazy oxf*rd. Always doing the bare minimum, especially in defence.
It's possible that he's just not very fit, and therefore doesn't exert too much energy otherwise he'd be knackered by half-time.

Regardless, his not doing very much has been annoying me for a while, so against WIgan I decided to keep a closer eye on him.
My suspicions were confirmed. The guy is a passenger. 9 times out of 10 you'll find him on the fringes of the action. Close enough that it appears he's helping out, but too far away to be of any actual use.
At one point against Wigan in the 1st half Gorkss was pretty much lying on top of the ball in our box for about ten seconds and we were under immense pressure. I watched Williams during this and he was stood still in the exact same position in the corner of the penalty box for the whole 10 seconds. Doing absolutely nothing!

That's just defensively.
I've posted stats before about how few touches of the ball he actually has per game. Against Wigan he had 30 touches, less than everyone in the starting XI except Sharp.

The strange thing is that he featured massively in the FLS's highlights of the Wigan game. Once again giving the illusion that he's heavily involved, when in reality for 80 minutes of the game he was doing oxf*rd all.

There's not a chance he would be a 1st team regular if Karacan wasn't injured.
