Lower West
JimmytheJim Our 0 shots on target is indicative of our patient, measured build-up play.

Says more about the players than the style.

The players can't play the style that Adkins wants. We've had 42% possession probably in our own half!

Time to get Brian the messiah back - who is losing to Rochdale. When will people smell the coffee? Our players really aren't that good.

It also shows that, starting or not, ALF cannot score unless he is given chances to do so.

Exactly!! The midfield requires major surgery.

All of this " the players cannot play Adkins style" is not an excuse.
Adkins can clearly see it is not working, so he needs to change to suit the players which is what happened under Bmac. Adkins needs to work with what he has and adjust his tactics accordingly rather than telling the players to do things they just can't do.

Exactly!

Just as well we haven't got a head strong central midfielder who suits the slow Adkins style of play.

I'm all for the passing style of football but find myself missing the fast counter attacking style that we were so much better at. Guthrie didn't suit the ping it out to the wings style as he slows everything up in the centre, which is exactly what Adkins seems to want.

Change to suit the players?! When those players wouldn't stand a prayer if we managed to fluke our way to the PL?! As BMc proved in catostrophic style, it is far too late to then try and change players and style when you get to the PL, particularly when the owners are as tight as the proverbial duck's

Makes you wonder why we ever signed those players, let alone pay them the massive salaries that they get when they are incapable of controlling and passing a football!

It's the opposite of what Adkins wants and said so after the Middlesbrough game.

He basically said they do everything too slowly and lack the vision to see the first time pass.

In the short term though, we can't keep performing like this. We need either a massive over-haul in January or like I said, a change in our tactics.

Too bloody right. It's embarrassing. This is what happens when you put no emphasis whatsoever on being comfortable with ball to feet for over 4 years & have a few ageing/injured players on your books. I might have to start watching some academy games to see what they look like as watching the 1st team is bordering on suicidal.

Haven't seen many games this season but from what I have seen they have no trouble with the first time pass, it's passing it forward where the problem lies.
