Hobbsy is a class act and a top bloke to boot I am told. Whilst he is happy and well liked at Forest, I'd imagine if RFC wage offer is significantly better than Forest's, (and assuming Forest don't match or better RFCs offer to Hull), then he'd come to us.

On plus side, he's worked with Adkins at Scunny, on the minus side, his family are settled in the Midlands, (although journeys to Reading wouldn't be much different to journeys to Hull, roughly similar distances?).

Would be a huge addition to the squad, and one that should have been made pre-season given the obvious paucity of central defensive cover in the squad at the time.

Picking 2 from Hobbs, Hector, Pearce and Morrison would be a good dilema for Adkins, and if the move goes ahead, (and Hector signs a new contract in the summer), must be the end for Gorkss.

If he does sign for Reading he'll have to give up his cricket career, that's for certain.

End for Pearce?

No, he'll just have to up his game. Knowing how Adkins want us to play, of Pearce, Morrison and Hector, I would suggest Hector is the most comfortable on the ball so, if Hobbs signed, Pearce and Morrison would have to show they are indespensible defensively

Time is on Pearce and Morrison's side. It's not for Gorkss and he's also one of the bigger culprits for rubbish short passes and then frustrated shit long ones, not with standing his apparent excellent performance yesterday.

Pearce only signed a two year contract IIRC? To me that was an indication he won;t be in Adkins' long term plans, whereas Morrison signed a new long term contract earlier this season. Is Gorkss out of contract this summer?

Seems risky with his injury record especially given Adkins first three signings have all spent large chunk of the season in the treatment room.

Question: shouldn't Hull have told Forest to drop Hobbs immediately they accepted the bid from Reading to protect their asset from becoming injured rather than wait until Monday....

I'm inclined to agree there. Really could do without more players with dodgy knees.

Unless he has a desire to come back down south (He is from Portsmouth) would be inclined to think forest will get him, however what gives us hope is he was called back. Surely it would not have taken more than a phone call for Hobbs to say he wanted to stay at Forest and he may not have been recalled?

True but you would have thought that Hull would recall him anyway just to make sure Forest stump up the cash rather than for nothing in the summer

Pearce only wanted a 2 year contract - nothing to do with NA's plans ...

A blessing! He's paid far too much for a defender of his limited ability.

Reading FC transfer news. More on the Jack Hobbs story.

Hull City boss Steve Bruce says Nottingham Forest must match Reading's offer for Hobbs if they want to sign the defender.

Reading had a bid, thought to be in the region of £600,000, accepted on Friday.

Hull have now recalled Hobbs from Forest, where he has spent the first half of the season on loan.

And Bruce has warned the City Ground club that they will have to meet his valuation for the 25-year-old if they want to keep him.

He said: "Jack Hobbs – we had an offer for him on Friday, from Reading. We will be recalling him on Monday morning and now the ball is in Nottingham Forest's court.

"He is available, we have said that to everyone and we will see what happens. My job is to look after the club and, if somebody is offering us a bit of money – a lot of money – then we have to look at it.

"It is as simple as that. We let him go to Forest on loan because there were doubts over his knee. He has gone there and done ever so well. But, if they think they are getting him for nothing, we have a decision to make.

"Forest have to match the Reading offer. We have had a substantial offer from Reading and ultimately the ball is in Jack's hands. But Forest have to come to the table and play ball with us."

For a player with his injury history I'd suggest that it is quite a substantial offer.
