This, ladies and gents, is why you don't use just stats to pick a team. And certainly why you don't use just stats covering all aspects of performance, to pick players in specialist positions.

Then again, I'd draw your attention to the fact that ALF is actually our second higest placed striker. Above Sharp and Blackman. So unless people are suggesting we should play just one upfront, he's still the best bet to partner Pog according to that.

Alf wont be going anywhere this window, and if he's playing then I doubt he'll want to either. We have two strikers in Pog and Alf, with Sharp waiting and waiting for us to fund his perm move. Even if we do get him, we still only have three strikers, so Alf is vital to us!

Well unless I'm mistaken Adkins has given ALF a place for 2 games running. It's not Adkins you need to be thinking about, it's now up to ALF to prove on a regular basis that he's a 90 minute player, not just a supersub. He's going the right way about it so far !

Took his chances well today obviously, especially the first. Missed a couple too of course, which is expected, and worked hard and was one of his more effective performances and most importantly for me he and Pogrebnyak linked up well.

He still misplaced a number of simple passes and gave the ball away a bit easily, but if he keeps up that level of performance then perhaps we'll see a lot more of him in the starting eleven.
