If they're coming then we must be close, and the rumour of agreeing a deal in principle may not be all that far off. Get it done. Still plenty of time to do a few a deals in the transfer window, and it'd be nice to lift the mood even more and hear their plans.

Who's IN for an annual pre-season tour of Oman? It'll beat Portugal anyway.

From Despair To Where?
Localroyal Whatever happened to a room being booked in the hotel for a press release this week?

It's still booked. Corby have got a new model out.

They might have to kick Corby out of the room now :-)

Well I live in Saudi Arabia at the moment. Whilst Oman is a bit more liberal than it is here in the Kingdom I would not recommend a trip to the ME during Ramadan (July) where everything is closed except at night. Also it will be about 50 degrees! There will be no preseason trip to Oman. Maybe in January or something or a short trip (maybe international break Feb) but July.. forget it.

It will be a Dry tour in more ways than one.

Better to stay at home and sit by an open oven on max.. at least you will be able to hold a bottle of booze! You will get hot and sweaty (realistic feel) but then after 5 minutes and a couple of swigs think 'bugger this' and go back to the lounge. No to the tour in July.

Having lived in both Saudi and Oman, Saudi for three years, Oman for over twenty I would say that it is like comparing chalk and cheese. Stores stay open during the day in Oman during Ramadan and though the bars on the air base closed they did open for an hour for carry outs for non-muslims. For my last eleven years I was based in Salalah and during the Khareef (monsoon) which runs from June to September the temp was usually around 30c max but it was quite damp.
but agree Muscat can be unbearable at that time of year.

Yep KSA is a different kettle of fish all together. Everything is shut during ramadan only at night do things open. At least in my case Bahrain is down the road..

Surely this is good, having two interested parties

Means they will bump the transfer kitty up

Oman: "We'll give you £5m in January"
Yanks: "We'll double that"
Oman: "£20m"
Yanks: "£40m"
Oman: "Messi and Ronaldo"
etc etc

I wish they would stop fannying around and get on with it. The board need to go with one and do it. A bit of money upfront to bring in a player or three and down the helter skelter we go again.

At least all of this has largely prevented the mong squad from making up transfer rumours this window. It's been quite refreshing.

Two parties just means it'll up the price, so whoever wins will have no cash left over for any transfers at all.

It almost certainly means another 10p on the hotdogs in the concourse as well.

I don't think the price will change, its what they can offer to the club that will (ie, their vision for the future and how much transfer kitty there will be etc)

Actually, Zingarevich won't give a toss about the future of the Club. All he'll be interested in is the dosh.

Quite, just like when I sold my last house, I didn't ask potential buyers if they were going to keep the garden looking nice and put up some expensive curtains.
