PlatypussElm Park Pasty Could anyone please explain why the assumption is always made that as soon as a transfer happens that we are rolling in money??? We saw this earlier in the season with the Mariappa/Kebe transfers, 'Why haven't we spent the £5M??', because chances are we don't have it. A lot of transfers these days are paid in installments due to the sums involved, and transferring on a player you are still paying probably complicates things further. I am not saying we have no money, I am just saying that any due fees may not arrive for a while.
So by the same token any transfer fee we would pay for a new player would also be paid in instalments rather than all up front, yes?

SPARTA Get Reading understands the Oman bid is the preferred choice and the consortium were in Reading yesterday in a bid to push the deal through.
Like the American offer, the group from Oman want to take full control of Reading, not just Zingarevich's 51 per cent share.
An unnamed top official from the Arab State’s Football Association has spoken about the possible deal and what benefits it would bring to the Middle Eastern country.
He said: “An Omani businessman is interested, but we do not want to reveal the identity of the individual as it may hamper the deal.
“It will be good for Oman football if this deal comes through.
“It will certainly give a huge lift to the development of the game in this country.”

And with absent owner Anton Zingarevich unwilling to put any money in, Royals are struggling to secure any of Adkins’ targets

Reading a bit between the lines that sounds like he's refusing to match any cash SJM might be making available? SJM won't want to bankroll AZ.

RoyalBlue So earlier this month in his 'staged' interview live on air with Tim Dellor, Madejski stated that funds would be available to Adkins. Having been told that, Dellor even repeated it back to Madejski to make sure that was what he was saying. Furthermore, the availability of funds was not stated as being conditional upon the sale of the club taking place this month.

Now GetReading are saying that funds won't be their for Adkins unless the sale goes through. They quote Adkins as talking about having to give it the best shot with our current squad, which is what Adkins also mentioned live on air with Ady Williams after Saturday's game.
Once again it is starting to look as though we have been given all the damn talk but that 'the walk' is not going to be forthcoming.

That is Charles's opinion, not fact. He hasn't spoken to AZ.

Royal Ginger Adkins is sitting pretty, he's been given an excellent excuse for not getting promotion/playoffs. From the beginning of the season he's said that we needed to be in the races come January (which we are) and that the business we do in the window will give us the means to go for the top of the table. That was always going to be a big ask. Now, he's been able to do his bit (be in the hunting pack) but the club's not provided stage two. Ready made excuse come May. No-one can really argue that he's done his part.

Agreed. I have been no Adkins lover and did not think Brian should have been sacked BUT Adkins has been put in an impossible situation and now needs to be given at least another season. In a sense he has a free shot at promotion this season now as even play offs will have to be seen as a success - as we are unlikely even to re-sign Baird and Sharp let alone anyone else and with all the injuries, the squad is depleted and needed reinforcements.
So from me it is just a wish of good luck to Adkins and the players for the rest of this season and if you get to the play offs that will be great. If not let's hope the ownership chaos has been sorted by the end of the season, so Adkins has a chance of forming HIS squad for next season whether we are in this division or are by some miracle promoted via the play offs.
