Kelly is an excellent right-back, as is Gunter. Cummings is a good right-back.

Kelly is a steady right-back who has been made to look poor by virtue of having to play at left-back.
Gunter is an excellent wing-back but not a very good orthodox full-back.
Cummings is somewhere in-between .
IMHO of course.

IMO Gunter is a contender for player of the season.

Kelly is a good right back but not as good as Gunter now.

Cummings is good defensively but does not add much going forwards.

Next season Kelly can remain as cover for Gunter, but I think for his own good Cummings needs to move on to play more regularly - probably at League 1 level.

It could just be that the three of them are committed to next season, so safe to plaster all over the website/social media streams.

I'd have thought Alex Pearce would have been the obvious choice for the captaincy, he's shown signs of being a great leader, has worn the armband before, and is about the most passionate player we've had in a long time. That said, if it does fall to Gunter I wouldn't mind, he's got loads of experience for his age (at international level too), and has been consistent enough to warrant the extra responsibility.

I assume you are referring to Alex Pearce?

For me Pearce wouldn't even start let alone be captain. Morro and Hector in defence with Gunter or Guthrie skipper.

I fully expect Adkins to name Gunter as the new captain, he has clearly favoured him ever since he came in for McDermott. Pearce on the other hand is likely to be in and out of the team as a rotation option this year (most likely to be out of the picture completely in a few years). Although Gunter is young, Adkins himself has put Lallana as captain at a young age, and he has said he is building a young hungry and ambitious squad, and there are few better options in my opinion the Gunts!

Pearce will be sold if/when the takeover goes through.
