Sadly nothing surprises me in terms of the general PL, FL and FA handing in these sorts of situations any more.

Not the first time precedents have counted for sod all and won't be the last.

GW given the job perm and been told he will have a "competitive" budget. Competitive at top end of League 1 I would suspect. I hope they rot in League 2 for a few years at least.

The FL have imposed restrictions on their playing budget for the next 5 years. It was part of the deal they had to accept to get their golden share

The 10 pt deduction has now been applied to the League 1 table, not that you could tell as they are still relegated.

...our bell ringing friend must be laughing his way to the bookshop!

There is just NO punishment here - and there are parallels with the Leeds case a few years ago.

Really feel for clubs that have been utterly shafted by points deductions over the years - while the FA's favourite fraudsters (who stooped so low as to rob CHARITY money FFS) get away scott free.

You really could not make this up...

£6.7m due is covered by the £8m parachute payments.

You have to wonder why they are stringing it out for another 3 years when they get the PP this year.

I expect they hope ticket revenue etc will help them cover some of that over three years, and allow them to use some of the PP to manage a competitive wage bill to get them back to the heady heights of League One; rather than pay off the debt now and then struggle to stave of relegation to the Conference.

I'll admit to showing more emotion when someone scores against Portsmouth than any other team
