Probably would be more fairly rated if he was more likeable.

Obita's talent is clear to see. His delivery is, on the whole, extremely good. He is starting to improve his consistency which is helping by playing week in week out this season. I echo previous sentiments suggesting that the LB spot is his to lose. Sometimes being forced to play in a different position can benefit a young player still learning the game. That being said his natural position is a clearly a winger and it is where I expect him to end up. Obita needs to improve his physicality and shooting (which is going to be difficult whilst he's at playing left back) but if he does and keeps focused and works hard then he has a lot too look forward to. (little) Comparisons could be drawn to Bale imho. I'm not for one second suggesting he will ever be as good as Bale or that he'll ever sign for Real Madrid for 80m+ I'm just saying that there are similarities, has to be said that at Obita's age Bale was already producing the goods in the Prem. Either way Obita should stay at LB not accounting for any unforeseen circumstances but he needs start playing on the wing regularly at some stage again. I know the issue was raised elsewhere and opinion is relatively divided on the subject of promotion timing. In a hypothetical world where we don't have to sell anyone and all of the players (with the ability to improve and develop) do so, not getting promoted this season wouldn't be a bad idea. Regular competitive playing time at the highest level possible is the most important part of a player's development. That being said we don't live in a hypothetical world and cannot chose when or even if we get promoted and any opportunity to do so should be taken to the best of our ability.

Either way, genuinely excited about not just Obita's development but the younger players in general.

FAO Jordan Obita: 1g/lb protein and a +500 calorie surplus and hit the weights hard. :!:
