I think we're finish 6th. Would <3 a play-off final win over QPR, as long as we get the Green Man again.

im thinking 5th or 6th is probably realistic, and a good performance for this season. we need to be building toward a squad that could compete in the premier league anyway (which now with SJM's comments seems unlikely with all the cloth cutting that will happen in the summer unless we find a new owner). i still am 150% behind NA to take us forward as a club, and hopefully we can find a new owner so we can invest some more in the summer and make our goal of being a established premier team a reality.

A gap of 7 points has opened up between us and the top 5. We are, effectively, in a race for 6th place with Brighton, Ipswich and Wigan and, possibly, Blackburn and Leeds. My money would be on Wigan or Brighton taking that 6th place. On paper we have the players to get us into the play-offs but, despite the false dawn of the home wins against Blackpool and Bolton, it is looking increasingly unlikely that we will figure in them. This may be a good thing. Some argue that we need another year in the Championship to consolidate our new passing style (not much in evidence in the second half last Saturday but maybe understandable in the circumstances) but I'm fearful that our top players will not want to stay another year with Reading in this league. Pog. Alf, Bridge, Drenthe, Guthrie, McCarthy and others may look to leave for other clubs and the next year of 'consolidation' will become a year of 'survival'. I hope I'm wrong. I fear I'm not!

Some big games coming up ins: QPR (A), Blackburn (H), Brighton (A), Leeds (A) Derby (H).

Positive results (10 points plus)in these fixtures the 6th place finish will be on.

Brighton within a point of Reading now with Ipswich and Wigan (game in hand) not far behind. A 7 (seven) point gap between Reading and 5th place, 12 (twelve) points off an automatic promotion spot and 20 (twenty) points off top.

I think you may miss out on the play offs.

Not sure what you're getting at m8. Could you spell it out for us?

If Dave-Royal says we'll be 7th in the Plemiurslip, I'll be forced to accept that reality.

Have we really got sixteen Earley Royals on here now?

Earley Doors, RG6Royal, Royal Lady, Albert Spangler (?).

Actually I guess we could probably get to 16 without too much difficulty.

This season feels similar to 2004/5 - stumbling along all year in the playoffs without really looking convincing, failing to find any sort of form then missing out on the final day.

I was only thinking it was like 2008/09, following relegation we kept a good squad, were doing okay to around Xmas, then it fell apart. Always thought that season that a few players knew they would leave at the end of the season regardless, and I wonder if that is in the minds of a few this season.

However get injured and that new contract seems a long way off, whatever happens we will have a different squad next season, and we shall need to show some ambition with new signings, mostly from others at this level, so weaken then as well as strengthen us.

Will now just miss out on the play offs.

Other teams continue to strengthen. Leeds sign Wickham on loan. Meantime, having failed to provide the transfer funding he assured everyone would be available in the January window, Madejski starts to sharpen his scissors ready for the cloth cutting.
