Gorkss: Red Card-Yes or No?

Bit surprised, given Adkins position on it yesterday.

Gorrks should have stayed on his feet, especially in that area of the pitch where there was no threat. He gave the ref a decision to make. In real time I can see why the ref gave it. On the replay he clearly gets a bit of the ball first.

Given his experience Gorrks should have known better.

Pretty sure it won't be rescinded if Reading do appeal, although in reality it should be.

He had no need to slide in like that - he shouldn't have given the Ref the opportunity in the first place.

He did get a slight touch on the ball but out of the 4 camera angles it was only obvious on one of them.

The Ref should have at least consulted with the Linesman.

The good thing was with 20 mins to go and 1 man down we still went forward with the ball and didn't concede any Goals.

Glad we have appealed as it was a harsh sending off. Had a look at the QPR fan site and the vast majority on there did not think it was a red either - which says something.

I think the person most hoping the appeal is turned down will be Hector.

Why do people keep saying that winning a tackle was a silly thing for Gorrks to do?

It's not that he won it, it's that he put himself in a position where he could get a red card.

The referees assistant flagged for the offence as he was closer much closer than the referee.

The referee should have consulted with him before making a decision.

Personally think it was a yellow.

Two officials can see the offence at the same time you know. It's not a game where you flag and I blow.

Do you think the referee gave the red because of the manner in which assistant waved his flag?

As a ref, may I ask that you tell us what you would have given.

My own reading was that it was probably reckless, could be seen as dangerous, so definitely a yellow and a borderline if somewhat harsh red.

But as a (current? professional?) referee, could you enlighten us all a little bit here?
