Gorkss: Red Card-Yes or No?

Don't understand all this "Gorkss gave the referee a chance to make the decision" nonsense.

The referee could just have made the right one and this would all be moot. You risk a booking every time you go in to tackle somebody, doesn't mean you don't do it.

Has anyone ever had two red cards rescinded in a row before?

I think most would agree in today's game that if he missed the ball with that tackle it would be a red. He got a very faint stud on the ball which, understandably the officials didn't see. If he kicked the ball better or didn't make the tackle he would not have got sent off. Yes it was one footed but he was off the ground a bit.

I think with the benefit of a replay it was a yellow. Without seeing the studs tickle the ball it was probably a red.

Looked reckless from where I was, but I'd like to see it again.

If it's reckless then you can get the whole of the ball and still be in big trouble.

The question is whether the tackle was reckless that can be the case if it is one footed and touches the ball.

Might just get off on the basis of that replay unless they decide it was reckless.

Those are all the uses of "reckless" in this thread prior to my post. All of them (except possibly Esteban's) are in the context of whether the challenge deserved a red, not whether Gorkss is a silly boy.

This must be unique. Two sending's off in two consecutive matches and both overturned on appeal. Red cards are hardly ever overturned so to get two overturned is astounding. Have to say I thought the Gorkks card was even weaker than the Pearce one - so not entirely surprised.

Feel sorry for Hector - he must be gutted.

TBF the majority on here felt is was an unjust red.

Hopefully referees will now accept that no RFC player EVER does anything worthy of a sending off.

I disagree. I think the discussion and disagreement here shows that the ref had a few seconds to make a decision that was very difficult.

With the benefit of replays us fans are split 70-30 and whilst I never thought it was a sending off I don't think there is anything for the ref to be sorry for and good on the FA for admitting that sometimes refs get things wrong in difficult situations.

The Pearce red card is another story though. That was appalling and cost us the game and the ref should face some form of reprimand.

The LOTG say fouls and misconduct decisions are made in the opinion of the referee.

Pearce, I agree with you as it wasn't an obvious goal scoring opportunity which means the referee simply got it wrong to the letter of the law. But this is different, it is a matter of opinion between the referee and the FA. The only way this has been rescinded for me is if the referee said he got it wrong in his match report or when the FA were looking into it.

The very fact that the decision was a difficult one to make and opinion is split is why they should have stuck with the referees decision.
