Friday falling off his stool in The Boars Head would be great but, to disagree with some of the above, he definately flashed a V-sign in Royals colours, regardless of what has been posted above!

I'm not sure Jason Roberts deserves it.

Steve Coppell

I'm against any calls for a statue of Sir John. He has the stadium and hotel named after him. I think that's more than enough!

Completely agree - we would also struggle to find somewhere to fit the statue's sodding head!

So if we can't have Friday flicking the V or taking a dump - maybe one of him kissing a copper on the head.

Wasn't Friday more of a Biscuitman?

He may have flashed a V at some point whilst playing for Reading, but the iconic one that was posted above was as a Cardiff player.

Yes, that was actually the point I was making. Some of the 'iconic' photos are from his Cardiff time but the lack of photographic evidence does not mean that he did not do the same in a Reading shirt - or, indeed, when out on the town!

As Micky Gooding said yesterday "what about Martin Hicks?"
The best that the club could do to honour the marvellous Maurice Evans was with a little plaque so I can't see statues being erected honouring anybody else as they are never here long enough other than Parky.

A thought. Possibly a statue of our Majority-Shareholder - we could then ritually pelt it with rotten eggs prior to every home game!

what about the person who has really kept the club going all these years - number 13

could be a statue of a family all dressed head to toe in megashop merchandice (including fleece obv), would have a packed lunch with them, would be holding rumblestix and a songsheet and one of them could be saying to another 'I wonder how Man Utd are getting on?'

SJM would never foot the bill for a statue. Maurice is a great example btw. If the fans want one, then approach STAR and we'd have to raise the money ourselves.

Pretty certain that as soon as SJM sells the club and possibly the hotel, the "Madejski" name may well go from both of them. I'm all for a SJM statue.

SCIAG Friday's v-sign (and alleged dump that never happened) were both whilst playing for Cardiff (or at least the v-sign on the Super Furry Animals cover was).

He's probably our most "legendary" player, so would be the obvious choice (along with SSC). I'd go with the pose from the front of The Greatest Footballer...

Generally, I think statues would be better if they were action shots.

Moments I would like to see immortalised (sorry Leroy, statues can't float upside down...)

In the same vein

Kevin Doyle at Leicester?

or Coppell throwing jacket into crowd, same game

Why, oh why, we would want a statue of Andre Bikey? :|
