I heard most of the interview on 5Live's Monday Night Club last night, and also the interview with Palios.

There are some pretty big leaps of faith in Campbell's arguments, and some fairly hefty doses of arrogance/over (misplaced) self-belief, like being the best centre back in the world between 02 and 04. But a lot of what he says is just opinions, there's no facts in his reasons to prove that he was actually discrimin8d against. There's also a lot of sweeping st8ments regarding "institutional racism" at the FA, again, without any real specific detail. Plus, as the guys on MNC pointed out last night, a lot of this discussion about whether he should have been captain or not has muddied the waters over whether there actually is/was a race problem within the FA

To be fair to Campbell, in the video clip on the link above it shows him saying his chances of being captain were effected by his skin colour more than he should've been captain but wasn't because of it.

Vision I've heard racist and homophobic remarks from Reading fans plenty of times in the last 2 or 3 years.

'Remarks' - which are difficult to police in a large crowd - are not the same as any perceived widespread issue with large groups chanting racial abuse. People on the street and in the post office queue might make 'remarks'.

Actually, how DO you police 400 Millwall fans singing about suicide bombers?

400 people should get together and commit crime more often.

It's getting very boring this whole race card thing. Clarke Carlisle, although an awful commentator, comes across as being more balanced with his views. I feel Campbell and Roberts are overly controversial at times to create a reaction and get media attention for themselves.

A bigger problem in the game is rival fans mocking the dead, such as Matthew Harding or the Munich Air crash. This is just as bad.

Although racism/homophobia etc should have no part in the game - biting a fellow player or going in two footed, potentially breaking someones leg is far worse than any name calling. It's a shame the PC brigade think otherwise.

Sticks and stones.

Probably easier to spot/winkle out/deal with an offence such as the one you example above via (for example) CCTV than with one person saying 'you black twat' at speaking volume :?:

I'm not talking about which is easier to spot. What is the next step after the copper spots 400 fans shouting "niggers are no better than monkeys"?

Copper in the show didn't seem to know. The show provided no answers either (which is why I didn't particularly enjoy it). How do you deal with it?

That is for the Criminal Justice system (and the Government sitting above/alongside it) to decide isn't it, rather than the police per se. If the Police arrested, kept in custody, interviewed, bailed, charged 400 people who were caught on CCTV singing "niggers are no better than monkeys" (thats one hell of a piece of quality CCTV kit to capture that, by the way) do you think that the CPS would see that all 400 of them went through the Criminal Courts?

And I wish you even better luck in finding evidence of more than the handful of regrettable examples aired in a lousy C4 documentary last night anyway. Because I strongly doubt that such nonsense happens regularly at football matches these days. Do you think that C4 just chose 2 or 3 games and happened to strike lucky every time :?: No, they chose issues/areas/history as I highlighted above which - albeit regrettable - were highly likely to generate the angle they wanted. An angle - in my opinion - which is barely representative.

Next week: Channel 4 reveal that a few members of the Tory Party are a bit racist.

B8?

I'd rather be racially abused than physically attacked. Must be just me then. :|

You get me wrong, I'm genuinely asking how you police or deal with a group of such a size chanting racist abuse. I couldn't give a f/ck whether it was cherrypicked or not. You can't arrest everybody, so what do you do?

A two footed tackle could end a players career. Racism will not end the victims career.

Are you really being serious?
