Getting back to the point, you must be pleased with the English spine that it appears Liverpool are riding to a champions league spot for next season?

I've always thought it would be better for the national team to have a nucleus of players from one club. My only concern would be the lack of Champions League experience/football those Liverpool players have had. It's ok performing well in the Premier League, but can they do it at International or CL level? Even with fresher legs due to less games this season over the Chelsea, United, Arsenal players, last nights performance would suggest not. Only time will tell I suppose.

The third Liverpool penalty and the least clear as Vidic slides across the path of Daniel Sturridge but misses the ball. He does not actually trip the striker but still impedes his progress and the penalty is correct.

I think technically it can be given yes, a bit like Gerrards against Sheffield United a few years back when he had to hurdle out of the way and Warnock went nuts because there was no contact.

The law for awarding a direct free kick does refer to attempting to trip or kick an opponent, but it does open up a can of worms if missed tackles like that are given as fouls in every instance.

Boyd and Hart's coming together was very similar and I don't think either should really be considered fouls as the attacking player doesn't really need to make evasive action to avoid getting injured.
