The truth about Royston...

by TBM » 06 Mar 2014 09:57

Who wants to guess at what it is?

Royston Drenthe says the truth about his recent absence from the Reading team will come out – but now is not the right time to discuss it.
...
“It’s difficult, but one day I will speak about it because it’s still on my mind.

“And when something is on my mind, it’s something serious.

“But I don’t think it’s good to talk about it now. At the moment the most important thing is the team, nothing is more important.”

Drenthe added: “Things happened but it’s not the right time to talk. I was not playing but now I am and that’s the most important thing."

I assume he was literally overlooked due to his height.

There's been some mention of a bereavement has there not? That said, his statement is very cryptic and may not refer to that.

Indeed.

He's getting back into the squad. Let's hope he can push on.

After Saturdays performance, I was hoping that he would forget the last 3 months and kick on

I hope for Drenthe's sake it was a personal matter because after this childish (I know a secret but I'm not telling) interview, I can only see Adkins getting annoyed with him for dragging it on (on the assumption it was a player/manager fall out?)

He seems to have a bad attitude and a bit of a chip on his shoulder, I can see him being sold in the summer....

Judging from the size of his waistline, I don't think the chip stayed on his shoulder for very long.

It was RD who invited the speculation by putting out a cryptic statement.

It was more likely a journalist asking him why he thought he was out for so long and he didn't want to say either way what it was

This was in Dellor's chat with him on BBC Berks on Saturday I believe, Dellor asked him something about not playing much and he came out with this.
