I really can't agree with anyone that wants Adkins out. The man had Drenthe brought in by the owner, and then didn't get the players he was promised! He deserves at the very least next season, and a summer with the owners full backing.

1) Pogrebnyak - High earner, disappointing lack of return.
2) Kelly - High earner, very poor this season at RB and LB when covering. Cummings is better and cheaper.
3) Akpan - Hasn't improved in 14 months of being here. He's a poor mans Karacan. Rather see Tish break through and given the playing him Akpan gets.
4) Robson-Kanu - High earner but far from earning it. Four better wingers here. Get him off the books while people still rate him.
5) McCarthy or Federici - We can't keep two quality keepers on the books for another season. Both on a top end wage.

But if we sack him and bring back McDermott we'll win more games. Don't you want to win more games?

This is quite easy to do really:

Bridge
Roberts
Leigertwood
Kelly
Gorkss

Pretty much nil impact on the 1st team & a decent cut in wages I'd imagine.

Guthrie...just cant warm to him...looks like a prick
Bridge... nuff said...a good shout that backfired
Legs.....sadly cannot see any way back for him
Cummings....despite his rocky start at the club he put in some great performances at crucial times going against the grain....needs to move on for his own career developement.
HRK....always the nearly man (and he nearly might finally make it)...no big angst if he stays with us tho'

McCarthy/Federici - Both too good to be understudy.
Kelly - not as good as Gunter, not as good value as Cummings
Gorkss - I'd love to see him offered a new contract but if we are serious about keeping Hector, then there isn't room for both
Guthrie - Technically the best midfielder in the team but a very sellable asset and we seem to play better without him
Robson-Kanu - Won a nice fat contract on the back of a few cameos in the premiership last season but brings nothing to the table to justify his wage in the Championship.

We could lose those 5 without too much impact on squad depth and it could see the promising youngsters coming through as backup.

I've discounted Roberts, Bridge, Taylor and Leigertwood as they are out of contract in the summer and are as good as gone already.

We definitely need to bring in a specialist left back and another forward

Feds/McCarthy - only need one.
HRK - Just not good enough this year and could get a few million for him
McAnuff - I'd like him to leave on a high. He'll be more peripheral next year if we keep him.
Alf/Pog - One of the two needs to go, could bring in a decent replacement or two.
Legs - Not going to contribute much.

Roberts - Career is done, glad to have him for that half season, I can't remember Reading making a bigger impact signing.
Leigertwood - Looks like he's going to miss a full season. Let him go unless he makes a miracle recovery.
Blackman- Maybe two half decent games in his time here? His best performance at the Mad Stad was a 4-0 defeat with Sheffield Utd.
Akpan - A couple of gutsy performances, but a long way short of the raw skill required at this level. Jay Tabb without the bravery.
Carrico - As good as gone.

There's bigger wages that probably should be cut, but i'd be satisfied with that lot leaving and replacing with youth and maybe one new striker. No other signings required.

We could also afford to lose:

Gorkss - Although it goes against every fiber of my being
Kelly - Cummings has come through for us as back-up time and again, and could again
McCarthy - Feds is still one of the best in the division and McCarthy's got to be worth a bit of cash
Andersen - Wants out
Guthrie - Big cash, never quite fit in, Taylor, Tshibola, D'Ath all looking to step up

So my team for next year would be:

------------------Federici--------------------

Gunter-----Pearce----Morrison-----Bridge

McCleary---Karacan--Williams----McAnuff(c)

---------Pogrebnyak---Le Fondre----------

Subs: Taylor, Cummings, Hector, Guthrie, Drenthe, Obita, (New Striker/HRK/Tanner)

Gorkss - Good player who has served the club admirably, but he's getting on and we have plenty of good young defenders coming through.
Kelly - Did we really sign him as a premier league full back? Bang average, big wages, would like to see him gone but doubt anyone will take him.
Leigertwood - Thanks for the memories Mikele, but we can't afford 25k a week for you to sit around getting your groin massaged. See also: Roberts and Bridge.
Alf - Contraversial, but we'd fetch decent money for him and while we'd miss his knack of scoring goals he doesn't offer enough in general play as a lone striker, and given that's the route we'll probably be going down next season I'd rather we brough a guy in with some pace to offer a different option to Pog.
S Taylor - :|

Basing this on the fact we're financially oxf*rd, so i think we'll try and shift this lot:

Bridge
Pog
Drenthe
Legs
Roberts
Caricco
Kelly
Cummings
McCarthy

Partridge should be sacked

Kaspars Gorkss - Done great for us but frankly is starting to lose form and with Hector, Morrison and Pearce most likely being ahead of him next season probably time to say thanks and part ways.

Mikele Leigertwood - Could still do a job for us at championship level but this injury doesn't seem to be buggering off so yeah again given us some incredible memories and was instrumental in our champ win but might be time to say goodbye unfortunately.

Jason Roberts - He himself has pretty much admitted his career is over so not much else to say on that one.

Shaun Cummings - A decent player, still best to come from him but hes not going to get a start ahead of Gunter or Kelly and with Keown impressing in the u21's cant really see him getting into the squad, needs a change of clubs to hopefully restart of his career.

Wayne Bridge - Again injury prone, big wages enough said.

Stephen Kelly- Looked good last year around January but hal looked poor overr christmas probably on more than Cummings.

Wayne Bridge- Big wages, hasn't played enough. Obita is a more attacking threat from left back.

Leigertwood- Hasn't played at all, might be alright at thos level still, but Tshibola and Taylor look good enough cover.

Robson-Kanu- Doesn't do enough outwide or up front, could still get 3 or 4 million for him.

Le Fondre- Doesn't score enough for a 'goalscorer' 3 million at least for him, considering we got about 5 for Long.

Transfers using that money,
-left back to push Obita for a place.
- Centre foward or two would be nice maybe one on loan (Billy Sharp and Conner Wickham?)
-Centre back so I dont have to see the clumsiest two clowns at centre back again ( Gorkss and Pearce)

I wouldn't say he's injury prone. Played 37 games last season, and was dropped for better players at City. He's been our very best player when he was on the pitch this season.

Completely forgot about Stuart Taylor. He can be a nice easy 6th to go.

Hard to narrow it to 5, I'd say keep mccarthy, pearce, morrisson, obita, karacan and Mcanuff. Don't care whether anyone else hangs around or not.
