Ian Royal
EarleyRoyal16 Gunter, McCleary or Williams for me.

No one else has been consistent enough.

McCleary is the player the least able to have 'consistent' used to describe him.

He's been a complete passenger offering virtually nothing in some games and absolutely devastating in others. His positive contributions absolutely outweigh the negatives or the lack of positives, but to describe him as 'consistent' is baffling.

Haha it really grates on you when you hear mccleary get credit on here. Don't vote for him then
You can vote for Jobi if you want to if he has had so many positives

Gunter for me and
Most disappointing is Pog

Really? What has he done to warrant player of the year? He isn't nearly effective enough for his wages. A very average performer that doesn't score nearly enough goals and seems to struggle to get more than an inch off the ground.

He's saying that McCleary has played some good football, but that he's in no way consistent. And he's right.

Pog's game is about way more than goals, and he's clearly been asked to play deeper. He's excellent with the ball at his feet, has an excellent eye for an attacking pass, wins or is fouled at almost every 50/50. He may well be paid an awful lot, but we'd be a lot worse off without him. He's a stand out performer for me.

Can you read? For his attacking contributions McCleary has to be close to the running, but absolutely not for consistency, which he just isn't.

At the moment it could be anyone of Guthrie, Pogrebnyak, Le Fondre, McCarthy, Gunter, Pearce, Gorkss, Williams, McCleary or Obita, depending on how the rest of the season pans out.

Let's be honest the whole team / players are littered with good moments, errors and anonymous matches which sums up our season to date.... So any one player who has a good last dozen games will storm the POTY award!!

Royal Ginger The problem with McCleary is his consistancy. When we're up he's the creator of everything good, and if we're struggling he's completely anonymous. The likes of Pog, Gunter, McCarthy have managed to put in workman-like, but not spectacular performances when it's going against us.

Agree with you about consistency, tbh am basing it on the fact that NO ONE has been consistently decent throughout the season. Still plenty games left so will see.

Can see Mcleary getting 20 assists, which is not to shabby for a season playing in an uninspiring team

No non-white winners, but who could really argue against Gylfi, Pearce and Long for their wins.

Being unnecessarily picky here, but no way did Pearce deserve POTS the year we went up. Gorkss or Feds were sublime.

For me It's between Guthrie, Pog & Gunter. All have been our 'best player' at times, all have flattered to deceive on other occasions. All that matters is who plays well for the rest of the season though, so I fully expect McCleary/Royston/Alf to win.

He would be lucky to get in my Reading side of the year

In our start he was exceptional. Starting to look pretty decent again too.

In many ways the same as Kebe, but for some reason Kebe is the messiah to many and McCleary isn't.

Absolute lolwut at Guthrie being POTS.

Gunter - just don't get the fuss about him.

Going to keep my powder dry until the very last minute on this one. Possibly Pog if he bags another few goals.

So far my order is:

1. Gunter
2. Pogrebnyak
3. Obita

I can't think of anyone else who has been consistent.

Of course it is too early. Williams, McCleary, Le Fondre have been sensational a handful of times though so if one of those three has a purple patch until the end of the season they will win, or Drenthe if he now scores every game until his Wembley winner!

wins headers even if less than his share, holds it up, good with his feet, scores goals, runs about alot and puts in questionable tackles

Tough one given that most players have had an injury break.

Early season I would have chosen from Guthrie, Pogrebnyak, McCarthy, Bridge and possibly Morrison / Gunter. Guthrie's work rate in the first 4-5 home matches was excellent, Pog was great once he decided he wasn't going (or realised no-one wanted him) and Bridge showed why he was Premier League. Its probably no surprise that our season started to go tits after injuries to a lot of those.

When Jobi came back he looked on fire and has stayed there or thereabouts with the odd howler. Alf has been up and down all season - Bolton & Blackpool flattering him (any decent striker would have done what he did in those). Pog has stayed solid(ish). Akpan & Williams have come good (at the expense of Guthrie and Karacan injuries) and lately Drenthe seems to have got his mojo back. That combined with breaking his duck I believe may well see him being rampant and scoring a lot more - expensive he may be but something has gone on but that now seems to have been sorted.

McCleary has been very good at times but not at others, same with HRK and Blackman.

The others I haven't mentioned have done a solid job but probably not worthy of being singled out.

For me though the find of the season is Obita. Yes he's played before but putting him left back seems to have really worked both for him and the team. If he continues like that I think he should take the award. Unless of course someone goes and scores a hat trick 5 times in the next 2 months.

Just my 2 pennies worth...

Nah, McCleary is the player people like to pretend Kébé was. Unplayable one match in three, otherwise anonymous, not great defensively.

Kébé was much more consistent, particularly under McDermott. McCleary has had more bad games this season than Kébé had in three years under McDermott. Still one of the best in the league though, simply because we win if he has a good game.
