ZacNaloen ^ That last lot don't really count.
They were involved in our Academy but not for long enough to it really have an impact on their careers that we can claim any credit for.
Charlie Austin was rejected for example. Massive mistake.

sandman And hasn't he done brilliantly since? Sheesh, we let go of a no mark like Jamie Ashdown who conceded a goal practically every game he played for us and has played about 100 games since he left, if that and you have a go at Madejski. So he got himself a better deal, he also flushed his career down the toilet at the same time.
Before you go on about an FA Cup winners medal how many times did he actually play to earn the thing?

wally bassoontidus_mi2 I loved reading those tweets on the previous page, especially the one about not producing first team players when the list of former academy players currently in the top 2 tiers of English football is:
Gylfi Sigurdsson
Jem Karacan
Alex Pearce
Alex McCarthy
HRK
Simon Church
Simon Cox
Ben Hamer
Jordan Obita
Jake Taylor
Michael Hector
Took a bit of liberty adding Hector and Taylor to the list since they're bit-part players at the moment but they're not too far off, did I miss anyone?
How many came through between 1995 - 2005?
I can only think of
Neville Roach
Byron Glasgow
Any others?
And we were playing at a lower level
This shows how far the youth system has come.

Did he play in the Final? If no, then worthless. Players know that. Some chuck them away if they didn't play in the final.

Doesn't matter. He still got himself a much better offer when Madejski had scoffed at that possibility.
And why do I scoff at Madejski?
