where are the few usually reliable posters to add anything to this? the star were the first paper to say anton had done a runner and pulled his investment, so i'm inclined to trust them regarding us having an exclusivity agreement with 'someone', but perhaps that's fallen through? someone reliable, or usually so, said it was now with the football league. maybe it is, these things do take time, but with more 'rumours' this week about sir john offering the club to every man and his dog, who knows where we are with this!

my gut feeling is no matter who buys us, we are in for a crap summer of selling our best players to fill the black hole and then trying to get the wage bill down to a sustainable level as well. if we did get a new owner who didn't do that, whilst it would be nice, i would be very concerned where the money was coming from to cover the losses (most probably another debt against the club and/or its assets). gone are the days of feeling secure and well run. now we are 'another one of those clubs' trying to punch above its weight, balancing debt and hoping we don't get shafted.

Deafening silence from the ITK brigade on this, which probably proves that they are, and never were, ITK.

starsport for the most recent article on the exclusivity agreement, and I'm sure I have the link for their story on anton doing one before the sun and co ran with it.

classic strawman

ironically it probably proves the other way. if they are not posting it's because they haven't heard anything worthy of posting....

tbh id be quite happy if pog guthrie drenthe bridge ledge and mcanuff kelly(all the biggest earners) all left
and we used the youth players to fill those gaps, with a couple of well chosen cheap buys from the champuionship

that and usually reliable ppl being wrong a lot on this, which makes you wonder if the club are deliberately misleading people perhaps to provoke interested parties to put an offer in or even up an existing offer. who knows. the whole thing is very unsettling. the future is even more unsettling.

Either of those things could be true but if they were ITK then surely a snippet of inside information would be forthcoming.

Depends if the boss said "this is getting silly, no leaks or else" then would you risk your job to tell someone?

Then of course leaking is a way of putting pressure on an interested party to put up or shut up.

On the other hand, they could be putting out various bits of false information deliberately as an easy way to see who is actually leaking information .

However I knew what I knew back when I mentioned the Omani's but as I am not part of the negotiations I have no way of controlling the outcome. Therefore whilst the ITK may have been correct at the time, events change. Doesn't mean it wasn't correct at the time. Now I trust certain people here to be posting what they have been told by various people ITK. Most of those who to me at least appear to know (or knew) are saying it's pretty much lock down atm.

I have had no information about who any new owners might be, I guess JM does not talk about that with the person I know. From what I can tell he actually gets a bit fed up talking about RFC all the time. Same as he used to get fed up talking about Goodhead Group and all the money it cost him.

@JonnyFordham
Heard* Indian investors looking at #readingfc were sons of Sahara empire (F1 and cricket) - bankrolled by their dad...he's now in jail. The way things are going at the Mad Stad I doubt there will be any new owners in before the end of the season #readingfc

Although this time we have Nigel Adkins who likes a similar style of football but hasn't yet been able to get the first-team to play it due to their dinosaur inability to adapt to a more modern playing style. That said, the U18's and U21's have adopted that style and it is paying dividends already, so any clear-out and youngsters coming in and us swapping to that system this summer would probably help the transition.

This guy really annoys me, he's like David Brent going back to Wernham Hogg after he's left. #needy

He still has numerous contacts In the area. Don't see why he should stop reporting on RFC matters just because he works on a more national scale now as well.

By contacts you mean some friends and family, or prescription eyeware? I don't recall the man ever having a genuine scoop on RFC? All I do remember is fans setting him up with bogus rumours on various portals just so the rumour was 'everywhere' and him taking the bate on a handful of occasions and printing the rumours as sources tell him there is genuine interest in... With contacts like that you'd hope he could see the wood through the trees.
