If you didn't support Reading who would you support and why?

Was at Stoneham school 1972-1977. Less than half a mile from Elm Park.

There were not really that many RFC fans at Stoneham during that time. Probably not helped by us being mostly in the fourth division during those years.
It did pick up around 1975-1976 when we got promoted. Interest did grow for some of the bigger games around that time. Home games to Tranmere, Crewe, Lincoln..and a tasty midweeker home to Brighton spring to mind.

Being Reading born and bred, I simply could never 'support' any other team. I just wouldn't feel the passion.

If ever I end up living down in Devon, I might go and watch Torquay or Exeter.

Not Plymouth?

Fair shout sir. But having been to all three grounds (Torquay, Exeter, Plymouth) I have always preferred trips to the first two. Although Plymouth away, around 1981, on a Tuesday night, when it rained the whole game and we were huddled under a Union Jack in the away end with no roof, 0-0, probably has something to do with me preferring Torquay or Exeter

Brighton, as I live here. Go to quite a few games each season as tickets are easy to come by and know a fair few people that go.

They also have a good crowd that like to sing. IMO you get a better atmosphere at the Amex

I went to the Hull FA Cup game as a neutral. I was sat in the upper west right behind the pitch side camera. I had the perfect view. Very impressive concourse as you'd expect for a new stadium. There seemed more places to queue for things. Before the game I popped in a few pubs in Lewes. That was interesting. First full of a few Brighton fans. The next a mini bus full of Hull fans.

So to answer the question, maybe Brighton. Closer to my home, Wokingham and Emmbrook.

Quite like the idea of Dulwich Hamlet, becoming a regular down at Champion Hill.

Realistically I wouldn't want to spend every other Saturday watching football though so it's never going to happen.

As I rarely come on the forum nowadays I've only just seen this. Interesting to know there is another Reading fan regularly at Champion Hill, in addition to myself and Scrooge McDuck. Now the uncertainty over the ground and ownership has been taken away, for the moment, it's certainly an enjoyable club to support. The title is Wealdstone's to lose but another play-off run beckons if we can start picking up points again - Saturday at home to Enfield would be a good place to start.

Nice. Odd to think that you may both be known faces, but not actually known. The EDT is convenient but normally packed and expensive, never actually been to the Castle despite it being relatively local - we normally prefer the Herne, excpet for when it's packed with buggies. You'll probably know of Scrooge McDuck (Neil) if you go down occassionally - the younger, bearded one at the 12th Man Stand.
