RE: Terrace Hate, documentary on C4 last night:

floyd__streete I can exclusively reveal which Championship clubs have a racism problem. They are: Derby, Middlesbrough, Doncaster. For these are the away games which Reading played “in the last couple of years” of Jason Roberts career which I didn’t attend in person. These must be the games he was referring to in which he was racially abused, because I sure as hell didn’t hear any abuse at the games I attended. Of course, it is often difficult to hear the home crowd over Reading’s raucous, passionate and barmy away following. And of course as a footballer, Roberts travels all four corners of the pitch. It is puzzling however that in all those matches I attended, no-one else appeared to react to any abuse from the crowd – be it player, coaching staff, official – so it makes me wonder whether Roberts has the hearing my brother used to have when his imaginary friend told him to flood the bathroom.

I know that many people were frustrated with Roberts injury but it's not like he had any control over it.

I say thanks to Jason for the excellent half season he gave us that allowed us another shot at the Premier League. Good luck with the future.

I think people are more frustrated with the fact that it was obvious a number of months back that he would never return, but he has sat on the Club's payroll for doing sod all.

I think he is applauding Roberts for not doing a Michael Jackson.

Am I understanding this correctly? He's retired from playing, but will see out the rest of his contract?

Doesn't his insurance policy kick in if he retires due to injury?

This is what has confused me: "Reading Football Club can confirm that our striker Jason Roberts will be retiring from football when his contract ends this summer."

Are you unfamiliar with contracts?

No - but in a situation such as this, one would have hoped that an insurance policy would kick in which would mean the insurance policy takes over the payment of the wages until the end of the season. In which case, his contract with RFC would, effectively, be terminated as soon as he gets paid by insurance.
