SPARTA So he's been with us trying to get back fit, he gets fit, and we can't afford to offer him a short-term contract. That really does highlight our financial position. Still, who needs Baird when you've got Akpan..

But if we don't need him why would we offer him a short term deal?

madstadblues I am looking forward to the local media's view on this will it be
a) Royals plight & financial meltdown continues losing premiership star to promotion rivals
or
b) Royals decide to let Chris Baird go due to great form of Williams, Akpan and Guthrie & injury uncertainty

It'll be c) Baird leaves because he simply can't tolerate the club's OTT hooligan fan base.

He's a million times better than Akpan, and a deal lasting 2 months wouldn't kill us. Agree when Williams is fit then it's Guthrie and Williams, Akpan on the bench, but he is atrocious and Baird would be a big improvement. Still, our loss is Burnley's gain at a critical stage of the season.
