Jimbo
NessaFromEldorado Going to football has to be one of the least enjoyable ways to spend an afternoon these days. Expensive, boring and almost everyone involved from the players to the fans is a colossal twat.

On the rare occasions I go I still enjoy the drinking, the drugs, the whoring and the windmilling, but I don't think I've enjoyed a game since the first half of the quarter final against Aston Villa.

Don't go then.

I don't. That was the point I was making.

You're a bit of a man about town Kes - what do you put it down to?

Some people I know went to Millwall away this season and moaned about

Silly kids standing all the game (2 of them are fairly old and don't want to stand the entire 90mins but had no choice if they wanted to see)
Drunken idiots fighting over a burger
Moronic songs

They said they wouldn't go to another away game.

So I assume the behavior of a few moronic fans ruins it for the vast majority.

Sounds like you have some pretty wild friends there Kes!

I've only been to a handful of away games over the years - usually as I've combined it with a night or weekend out. I enjoy it when i'm there, but I don;t half feel like the day could have been better spent doing something else.

To be honest, I wouldn't go even if it was free. Partly as I've got better things to do every other Saturday, partly as I've no real affinity with the current crop of players, and partly due to the poor standard of football we play.

People who feel the need to tell you they don't go and how that makes them superior are more annoying than people who do go tbf.

My superiority over you has nothing to do with the fact I've stopped going to watch football regularly.

I was just suggesting that perhaps the reason people are falling out of love with going to games is because it is expensive and shit.

I think it's your modesty that sets you apart.

I'll tell you exactly what you were doing. You thought you were going to go on the TB, take the piss and all your mates from AE would laugh along heartily.

They're all round your Mum's house and she's the one making the noise.

Lad bravado, homo- erotic celebrations, having to prove loyalty by either fighting, singing- twatty songs like"if you're all going to.......clap your hands" - or by wearing a replica shirt over a hoody.
I haven't fallen out of love with the game. I've fallen out of love with the people who play and watch it.

Apart from the players, the management, the fans, the beer, the food, the soulless grounds, the stewards and the prices, it's a smashing day out.

How can you say that when we lost 3-1 to Barnsley at home?

I don't know about you lot but I thoroughly enjoyed Bolton and Blackpool at home, and Forest, QPR and Brighton away this season.

I admit the rest has mostly been a bit poo.

Still, you've got to experience the lows to appreciate the highs.
(is what I kept telling myself after Barnsley).
