Norfolk Royal Bit odd that the involvement of Gianni Paladini in the takeover was revealed earlier today but people would rather squabble about Jason Roberts.

Not in the world of HNA? and certainly not in RL's world :D

I'm not squabbling, I'm merely expressing my opinion about a player who we are still paying over the odds for until end of season, who commentates on games when his club are playing and appears to be adding to our monetary woes as a result. If he felt any affiliation with this club whatsoever, he'd at least refrain from tweeting about what bleeding games he's commentating on for 5Live, while his current team are playing at the same time.

And what's that got to do with the takeover?

Don't worry-JM always said that he would never sell to anybody who he felt would be anything but a safe pair of hands at RFC.
Oh.

Makes me laugh how angry the JR situation can make people.

RL - don't follow him on twitter, don't bang on about him on a thread nothing to do with him. You'll feel much better.

Remember he is an employee and he was injured at work. We pay into an insurance scheme which ensures he still gets some money. Where's the harm?

If that was one of your m8's injured whilst at work you'd be convincing them to phone some no win no fee lawyer and screw the company for all they can.

By all accounts he's given it a great bash at getting back to fitness rather then just accepting it.

Why single JR out for not attending the game? The club is made up of hundreds of people, why weren't they all there?!

If someone is off work due to an injury at work, they don't normally go and do another job instead do they? I mentioned him on here because someone else mentioned him first. I merely had an opinion, it's no great shakes that no one else agrees with me. I've said my piece on this. Now I'll move onto something/someone else!

The Lord God Murty would whore himself out to any Media outlet desperate to take him in order to prep a media career whilst being "injured" for us but I don't recall anyone complaining then.

Truth is nobody actually knows what agreement Roberts has with the club with regards to media/match day committments but he was certainly fairly high profile media wise before we signed him so it seems a bit odd to hammer him for it now. Don't blame the player, blame the club for giving a lucrative 2 year deal to a player of his advancing years whose physical style was always likely to catch up with him.

Just another supposed "fan pleasing" deal struck by Anton that has lead to the need for another buyout *

*Deftly brings the thread back on track. Sort of.

I also happen to know that JR has been given a brief by the club to talk to high-level football people, as well as mega-rich Grenada residents while he's 'watching' other games, with a view to getting a new owner on board. (I may have made this up).

Wycombe Royal
Uke The club will have paid off their contractual obligations to him, the contract will also have been terminated as a result.

Therefore he is a free agent and can do what he wants. The club will be re-reimbursed via their insurances against injured players.

This is such a non-issue. Worse is the overpaid, uninjured underperformers!

And you posted this on the wrong thread.

Might want to get your facts straight before stating stuff that is totally incorrect. He is retiring at the end of the season when his contract expires as was stated in the announcement by the club.

Reading Football Club can confirm that our striker Jason Roberts will be retiring from football when his contract ends this summer.

Jason last played in December 2012, and has now been forced to retire from playing on medical grounds following his long standing hip injury.

The 36-year-old will continue to work in the local community on behalf of the club for the remainder of his contract and we wish him well in his future career.

No where does it say he can't have a Saturday job.

The community work (unspecified amount) was probably already booked in the diary anyway.

He is allowed to do what he wants, just as anyone else in his position would be allowed

Credit to the club for allowing him to build a life after RFC

If JM could have sold the whole club to Anton, he would have.

Kinda important, that.
