None of the teams below us will get more than 15 from 6 games and even that is a tall order. Forest play Brighton on the final day too so one or both will drop points.

If we get 73 points that will definitely be enough by virtue of our goal difference. 72 would probably do it too. If we can secure 9 points from the next 5 games that should see us over the line as I would fancy us to get something against Burnley as they'll be on their holidays by then.

Next game is huge. Win that and I would not bet against us. Bournemouth would be out of the race then and only the other 3 to worry about.

I can see us being clear if we beat Bournemouth as I really don't fancy Brighton or Forest to pick up max points from their next 2 games. Ipswich I think will but I'm happier being in a two horse race with them than a race with the 4 of them with Bournemouth right up our arse.

Bournemouth 0-2 Reading - good away momentum
Reading 1-0 Leicester - promotion secured, distance between them and Burnley, ease up a little. Roy magic.
Wigan 1-1 Reading - Wigan already secured in playoffs nothing to play for, we have away form.
Reading 5-0 Boro - Boro have nothing to play for, we start to hit form
Doncaster 1-2 Reading - Donny have nothing to play for, Sharp scores but we overcome it.
Reading 4-1 Burnley - Burnley have nothing to play for. We have form and momentum into playoffs.

18points. 81points. +27 GD

We sneak 3rd.
Reading play Derby
QPR play Wigan

We play QPR in the final.

Drenthe hat trick. Obita. JOBBBIIIIIII.

5 wins and a draw yields 18 points? OK...

If you talk about "gut feel" a bad defeat at Bournemouth and sure, we could crash out of
contention quite quickly, still having to play Leicester, Burnley Wigan.

Conversely, win there and it's "almost done"

But looking at form since January, or the last six games and there has to be
a MASSIVE change in form for Reading to lose it now.

We are averaging almost 2 points a game last six (11).

We are averaging 1.71 since January 1st (a 79 point season)(Bournemouth, ditto)

Points gained in last 6 games, GD

13 GD +6 Bournemouth
11 GD +2 Reading
10 GD +2 QPR
10 GD +0 Ipswich
09 GD +1 Wigan
08 GD +6 Derby
05 GD -3 Brighton
03 GD -7 Forest

If Bournemouth win their last six games they get 76

I think they have to do that. W5D1 would give them 74

Points if current (last six) form maintained for last six games

80 (GD 14) QPR
77 (GD 29) Derby
76 (GD 16) Wigan
74 (GD 17) Reading (might be 72/73 if they lose at Bournemouth)
_______________________

72 (GD 05) Bournemouth (at 2.1 per game, say 73 if they beat Reading)
68 (GD 05) Ipswich
63 (GD 03) Brighton
61 (GD 00) Forest

If Bournemouth DO make it, it will by beating us Tuesday (that's for sure) and even then it
will go to the last day. IMO Forest, Brighton are out of it and Ipswich have very very little chance

The interesting team for me is Wigan. I thought they were doing a lot better than 1.5 points per game
and they have the distraction of the FA Cup. Win or lose the Wembley semi it will be hard to switch
to Championship games and win them.

genome
Unbelievable Jeff Going to go for a worst case scenario

Bournemouth 2-2 Reading
Reading 0-1 Leicester
Wigan 2-1 Reading
Reading 2-1 Boro
Doncaster 0-3 Reading
Reading 0-0 Burnley

that makes 8 points which should be enough as the chasing pack would need 14 points and on their current form is very unlikely

I think a win on Tuesday will give us a top 6 finish baring a horrendous last 5 games

Surely worst case scenario would be losing every game :?:

what I meant was the minimum we would realistically need to remain in play-offs, apologies.

Reading 0-2 Leicester
Wigan 1-0 Reading
Reading 2-0 Middlesborough
Doncaster 0-1 Reading
Reading 2-0 Burnley (burnley already guaranteed finishing 2nd and on the beach)

9 points, should be just enough

Fancy Brighton to win at Leicester tonight, which would change the outlook a little bit.

Players have probably been on the p1ss since Saturday, and teams often fail to win their 'homecoming' match.

A bit disappointed you've not named the scorers tbh.
