Reading: McCarthy, Gunter, Obita, Pearce, Morrison, Akpan, Hector, Williams, McCleary, McAnuff, Pogrebnyak
Subs: Federici, Cummings, Gorkss, Robson-Kanu, Blackman, Drenthe, Le Fondre

Something resembling a midfield. Let's hope they are fit enough!

the team isnt the disaster area i thought it would be due to the injury crisis. akpan and williams might be playing through their injuries.

Well that's better than I worried it might be. Williams and Akpan at their best driving forward through midfield, probably won't keep up the pace the whole game though. Hector to sit and protect the back four - he really started to shine towards the end of the Leicester match although I thought that was when he started playing a bit further up the pitch.

Obita back linking up with McAnuff for our most solid and reliable wing, ideally we want to be shaped so that we're set slightly to the left to give our more mercurial and threatening flank in Gunter and McCleary space to work with on the quick switch / counter attack. Pog to work hard and fall over to win freekicks.

Can anyone think of a better line up given the squad we've got available? Speak now or after the game with the benefit of hindsight pretending you knew what would happen all along.

Best lineup under the circumstances.

Hard to tell without knowing the extent of the injuries. I might have gone with HRK or Blackman on the wing, and McAnuff in the middle, or Obita in the middle with Cummings at left back, but it's just splitting hairs really. Either way we're in trouble at 60 minutes when at least a 3rd of our team wants substituting.

It's 4-5-1, whichever way you position Hector/Akpan. May we fruitfully counter...
