Ian Royal What a ridiculous complaint. Of course the club are going to put tye best spin they can on anything. They'd be incompetent if they did different. You don't have to take it at face value though.

No, not a ridiculous complain as you put it, it's my observation on how the club communicates with its fan base and certainly don't read it at face value, quite the opposite in fact. But some may be too short sighted to see past football results and take comms at face value. The washy 'blurb' that comes out the club makes me cringe sometimes, sure they have to put a positive spin on circumstances, but some of their comms appear to allude to them assessing the main bulk of their target market consisting of 'simple' football fans... which actually is incompetent marketing.

I'd say it was fairly perceptive.

Yeah... you're probably right ... for the most part :)

melonhead agree- though he's not really taken any money from the club. just an admin fee for TSI.so far
he may take more upon the sale, but as it stands its not exactly a great deal for anyone, and that will only get worse.
the best case scenario for him and us would be for him to sell his shares for whatever he can get this summer.
and then its on to the next circus.we'll have another few years of wondering whether weve got a "good" owner or not, and wondering when he'll up and leave and flog us to the next nutjob.

i just wish JM had enough money to prop us up indefinitely.
was perfectly happy with the way the club was running till he effectively pulled his financial support.
not that i blame him.
if i had 100 million quid, the last thing i'd do is pump 5 million a year into a football club

Agee with the observations and the sentiments reflect my own. Makes you wonder why anyone "supports" a football team these days. I for one have lost interest and have no desire to throw away my hard-earned money at the club (just as JM hasn't, I guess).

 To the OP

Out of interest, it seems there are plenty of people who want rid of Adkins (most can't spell his name) but 3 wins and we're in the play offs.

So a pretty good position to be in.

So knowing the facts of

1. No money for investment despite promises
2. Injuries galore
3. Massively underperforming players Alolf etc

What position would you actually want to be in to support Adkins? 1st? 2nd?

Yeah, the next season will be the first season in nearly a decade I have not been a season ticket holder. The club hasn't been straight with the fans and to be honest I have no idea what I'd be paying for.

Our owners haven't invested, our players haven't performed and nobody has any idea what is going on behind the scenes.

Football is supposed to be enjoyable. It hasn't been for ages.

I can't believe someone with the username "1871 not 1998" wants fans to turn their back on the club only just making the top 30 in the country yet again. He should really call himself "2002 not 1871" because this season only ranks badly (I think joint worst at our current postition of 9th?) when compared to the previous 11. Compared to the previous 82 seasons this would be the 2nd best league finish.

The only justification for such an attitude can be in comparing the current playing staff and wagebill which is surely the biggest ever at this level. But the failure to take advantage of this is surely due to the fact that Anton IS out, and that Madejski is trying to be! Anton and Madejski IN would be a better protest !

I applaud Nigel for this attitude off the pitch in not moaning about the lack of money and avoiding any discussion of the perilous situation the club is in. Its a unsettling situation and frankly if the players showed half the attitude of our manager we would be a lot better off. Their body language suggests they know their contracts aren't sustainable, there is a fire sale coming and they don't want to get any more injuries.

Calm down mate.

It's not really a flounce, is it? It's just stopping going to something.

1871 not 1998 When are you powderpuff Reading fans going to make a point and demonstrate your displeasure at the pathetic, lifeless, half arsed performances we've have to put up with this season?

Turn your back for the first minute at kick-off!

Anton and his broken promises OUT
Madejski and his broken promises OUT
Over-paid mercenaries OUT

What exactly are we going to protest about?

Anton won't be there, so pointless protesting unless you think he might be watching on TV and actually give a damn.

Sir John, He said all along he needs to sell as he doesn't have the funds to invest. He was let down by Anton, However he did say funds would be available in January from either himself or Anton. We didn't sign anyone.

Overpaid mercenaries - Why would they be bothered as long as they keep getting paid? - Actually, as all players are probably on win bonuses you would think they would want to deliver the goods. For the record, I don't think we have any lazy or non committed players, just players who lack ability or players who don't feel motivated - both of which can be coached into them to a degree. You can't criticise a player for the club paying them too much, criticise the club for offering it.

We are where we should be - The fact McDermott took a similar or arguably lesser side to the title was an overachievement and not the norm.

In a discussion involving people not renewing their season ticket, I mentioned not renewing my season ticket. That's not a flounce.

I find it absolutely staggering that someone can have that opinion about the current team. On paper at least, this is one of the best teams that we have ever had. Only from 2005-08 have we had a better one. They are gutless in the extreme.
