From Despair To Where? He was never that popular with Liverpool fans IIRC, not "one of them" in the same way as Robbie Fowler or Steven Gerrard. Didn't help that his dad played for the blue side of the city. Joining Manchester United kind of cemented the dislike.
Leaving them because they didn't win enough didn't impress them much either. "Glass boned little traitor" is how a friend refers to him.

Might be wrong but wasn't he suggesting to fans he would sign a new contract while as it turned out he was running his down and had already agreed to join another club.

Sebastian I want anyone, literally anyone, to win the league ahead of Liverpool this year. I am almost certain that my wish won't come true.
City are still in this if Chelsea can get a result against Liverpool. Points can be dropped anywhere

Don't remember them doing anything for the 25th anniversary of Heysel can you? Still, it's the 30th anniversary next year, so we'll see what they don't do again*.

Met a m8 of mine over the weekend who supports United and he was genuinely convinced that the reason why Liverpool have been given so many penalties this season is because The FA & Premier League want them to win the league to mark the 25th anniversary of Hillsborough.
