Victor MeldrewMaguireRoyal Rother Worth remembering (when considering Liverpool's pending achievement) that a couple of months ago it was popular opinion amongst the pundits (spit) that this was shaping up to be the best / highest quality Premier League ever, as so many teams were playing stunning football.
I don't remember anyone saying that - I thought it was because of how close it all was and how anyone could emerge from the pack as a winner.
I certainly don't think it's been a stellar year for quality of football. You can't say any of the teams stack up against the likes of any of Ferguson's classic Utd sides, Arsenal's invincibles, Chelsea under Mourinho the first time etc.
Regarding the first two of those, Liverpool will score more goals in a season than any of them.
They could even become the highest Premier League goalscorers.
That IMHO would be some achievement for a team that came 7th last season with very little change in the squad whereas Man Utd are heading for their lowest position since the start of the Premier League.
Yes, Liverpool have had a very good season and will fully deserve their title win should it come to pass. I have enjoyed watching them on many occasions since last August.
I am however of the opinion that they're not a classic team, would make no dent in the CL with that squad, and would struggle to retain their title without notable investment.
