Ah man I am proper gutted about this one. He really took some dogs abuse from our fans at games over the last 2 seasons & that makes me a bit sad. At least his last game for us was a belter.

Can't see him going to Leeds. Reckon he'll stay down south.

Never was technically superb and his shooting won't be missed, but you can't fault the guy for his time here. Gave it 100% when it mattered and will never forget that amazing run and finish vs Cardiff. Absolute Legend

sandman Such a shame to see one of the best players RFC has had in the last 20 years leave like this.

Those who criticised him will realise just what he brought to the team and the club as a whole when the likes of Taylor and the fat f[u]cking Dutchman are stumbling into the opposition full back next season.

What do you mean?? Can we get some perspective? One of the best players in the last 20 years? Don't. Please don't.

He was a good captain but don't compare him to players in the last 20 years - and I am sure he would say the same.

blueroyals One of our best players from the post-Coppell era. Sad times.

We should just call it the McAnuff era.

I think it is a real shame that he was never even nominated for POTS. Such a quality act.

Maguire Club legend IMHO.

Loved this goal, just a proper GTFI moment

Deserves a lot more respect than a lot of Reading fans have ever given him. Wish him all the best.

Massive +1

Spot on, a good steady player and good professional but legend......don't be ridiculous, couldn't lace Murty's boots when it came to captaincy and leadership... I can only think those that are calling him a legend are still at school.

This has got me really sad.

Definitely one of my favourite players at the club and, as people have said, a model professional and a really nice guy.

Good luck in the future Jobes!

Jobi McAnuff has quite honestly been one of our best ever players of all time. Good luck and I fully expect you to come back and have a blinder at the Madejski next season with your new club.

loyalroyal4life with no money at the club this is only the start of things to come.

would not be surprised to see him go Leeds

No chance, McD has learnt from signing Kebe and Hunt...

Jobi will go to a Charlton or Brentford

Take your blinkers off m8. Definitely one of the best we've had in that time frame.

...Murty, Ingimarsson, Wdowczyk, Shorey
.................Harper, Sidwell
Little..............Sigurdsson.........McAnuff

Easily worth another season...one of the few shining lights back in the Rodgers era....flashes of brilliance and always the grafter.

One of the poorer decisions today.

Stunned he's being let go. Cheers for the memories. I only hope we can find a replacement with the kind of talent you showed in that Championship winning season.

Sad news that we can't keep him.

The McAnuff era was one of the most entertaining at the club and without him we wouldn't have seen the best of Sigurdson, Long, Kebe and the other great players he played with. When we missed out v Swansea, I felt for Jobi more than anybody else, so it was especially good when we went up with him as Captain, and he had such an effective season.

Another championship team should get a couple of good years out of him now.

Great shame. He always gave 100% & I will always remember his goal against Cardiff in the play off semi. Pity that we are stuck with other players who are nowhere near as much value for money.

Wrongly the subject of much critcism (nearly always without evidence) by the blind and football ignorant.

A great player during his time with us and, on Saturday showed that he has still very much got the fitness and ability to perform really well at this level.

I am sure he will end up playing regularly for a good Championship team.

Fully committed to the club both on and off the pitch and a great ambassador for Reading FC.

Wish him well and will have a wry smile on my face when he comes up against us and proves his critics wrong.

Ascotexgunner Stunned he's being let go. Cheers for the memories. I only hope we can find a replacement with the kind of talent you showed in that Championship winning season.

Fat chance unless we get new owners/investors PDQ

Very much doubt that Adkins really wanted to let him go but suspect that he was left with very little option as Madejski starts calling the cuts. I expect more poor decisions to follow.
