There doesn't need to be any logic, it's a fact.

Let's just accept I'm right and move on.

Actually, no. Logic dictates that fact be proven, which you haven't done and therefore you can't be right.

So....no, we can't move on.

Hoop Blah It's all about having enough to differentiate each kit from the previous to make people buy the latest one.

If they stuck to the kit we nearly all want, ie a simple narrow'ish blue and white hoops with white shorts and socks, they couldn't flog as many every season.

Actually, no, we need to remind the oxf*rd that we need hoops....and no oxf*rd back panels!

SPARTA
royalgrumpy The Puma contract runs until the end of next season (14/15), but they haven't signed a new deal yet. They've been speaking to new suppliers over the last couple of months. No idea about the Waitrose contract.

Well lets hope that's the end of Puma then!

Agreed. It should be possible to change a kit a each year without having to ruin it with "flourishes" and back panels. There's nothing too wrong with adding a little detail around the shoulder etc, but I can't see why they feel the need to make the hoops stop to incorporate it.

After all, the actual hoops on our kit have changed every single time our kit has changed, and people don't buy the new kit because they want the latest puma stripe etc rather than the last one.

I'd be willing to accept stupid flourishes etc (wouldn't buy them) if they just gave us a good traditional kit every 5 years or so.

Take the 2009/10 "sailor boy" kit. That could have been fine if only they'd not made the top hoops stop to include the V panel on the front. Why did it need the whole V part to be white? They could still have had their V marks on it, and had the hoops carry on like normal.

And has been said repeatedly for years now, why does the whole back have to be one colour? Why can the panel not just be a patch large enough for a two digit number. It's not as if we are going to have a player with a squad number of 13948, that would need the whole back, nor are we going to use some strange two foot high font that means the numbers start around the shoulders and ends at the base of the shirt.

The argument abut needing to 'change it up' to sell more shirts is BS. Until we have a 'proper Reading' kit none of my family are buying any.

The idea of having a traditional kit every 5 years or so sounds like a good compromise, but one Puma are unfortunately too stupid to comprehend.

Id rather have a new set every season. Couldn't stand playing in the same kit season in season out.. and its always exciting when it comes out

Rotating changing kits was perfectly good enough. Home one year, away the next, then home again the one after.

It's all about the £'s though. As long as kit sales continue trending at the levels they are, then the club will be happy to exploit the mugs that cough up every summer.

I get the impression that kit sales haven't been as good this season. Not ITK at all but not sure I've seen quite as much of this kit around town or on matchdays and the special offers (discounts, free MOM name printing etc) seemed to start a little earlier than usual.

I really hope that if/when we get the full hoop (not too narrow, not too wide, right colour) kit that most of us want to see they sell like hotcakes to show the club that if they get it right we'll buy into it

But they could make more money, by creating a kit every few seasons which the likes of Curo's volley and I would buy. So actually, they're harming revenue as the people who'll buy the kits every season, will do so no matter what they look like.

I'd quite like a new home shirt. But until they provide something that isn't a travesty, I'm not coughing up a penny for one. I doubt I'm the only one.

i am in love with that, but since most of us would like it, the club are surely not going to choose that one.

they will pick the worst, cheapest, template puma has.

It's not by Puma

Anyway, the unnecessary stripe on the shoulder, and one arm with no hoops. It may as well be Puma.
