Best wishes from a Burnley fan

by burnleysupporter » 12 May 2014 19:29

Hi, I normally post on footymad, but I saw the majority of Royals seem to post here instead. I just came on here to say I thought I was impressed with your team, notably their attacking threat and desire against us and the wonder goal! I also wanted to apologise for the idiots in our crowd taunting you once the on-pitch fans learnt the unlucky news. Its bad taste really and I was one of the fans leaving the ground that day genuinely feeling sorry for you.

I think you have a good manager and team and you should be up there abouts next season. Obviously I don't watch your team day in day out, but it seems your weakness is in defence, so if you can get that sorted you will stand a great chance. Good Luck!

Cheers mate, stick it to those rich over-privileged barstewards in the PL for us all. :D

Thanks BS. Sadly we'll be closer to a relegation fight next season than a play-off push. We're having major surgery this summer thanks to being stitched by Zingarevich. Enjoy next season, hopefully you can surprise many and stay there.

He was the investor that dropped out? As long as you can stay out of debt. Hopefully you'll be able to do what we did. I think we were 4th favourites for relegation at the start of the season so its not impossible.

Cheers bud. Personally I missed it all as I'd walked out right on full time, but to be honest I think it's quite funny really.

Zingarevich is the figurehead of Thames Sports Investments (TSI), the investment vehicle which owns 51% of the club. Pardon the pun, but he has royally stitched up the club and, more importantly, both Madejski and the fans personally. In hindsight the takeover should never have been ratified by the Football League or Premier League. Alarm bells were ringing when it took over six months for the Premier League to give it the thumbs up but there we go.

Always good to welcome a sensible and sensitive (in a manful way!!) fan from an opposing team. What a contrast to the imbecilic comments we endured from West Ham fans when we were promoted above them a few seasons ago. Good luck to you in the prem league. I hope you do well. It was a good game between us at the Mad Stad even if the result was a sickener for us!

To be honest i'm just happy we maintained our unbeaten Madejski Stadium league record against them.

We'll gloss over the playoff defeat as it wasn't a real league game.

Yeah, I saw a similar thing with West Ham fans over at Clarets Mad. Seems the internet population of them are deluded.

I've never looked forward to coming to see us play at your place, so I guess you can take that as a positive? Like us though, you could really do with getting rid of the goal music :)

Same from me. Good luck in the Premiership. Dyche should be manager of the season for putting together a quality, tight-knit team on a low budget. The pundits thought Burnley's squad was too small to maintain the challenge throughout the season. What do they know? Great to see a proper team get automatic promotion rather than moneybags QPR with more strikers than fans.

Across the leagues Dyche is manager of the season. Just shows good manager team spirit and talented players you don't need to spend millions to get out of this league. Well done and good luck in the Prem. Sadly in that league you do need millions...... :(

Your manager has worked a minor miracle there, and sometimes, that success can be a poisoned chalice.
I sincerely hope that those running your club have more sense, integrity, and loyalty than many other clubs who get promoted, because the step-up is massive, and all too often, when the promoted club struggles as a consequence, club owners decide that a good manager is suddenly now a bad one.

Sean Dyche has, IMHO, already earnt the opportunity to manage the clarets beyond next season, whatever happens. The very best of luck.

^^^^^^ this

But in the fickle fickle world of football if Burnley happen to be bottom at Christmas it's probably "thanks for what you've done Sean but see ya"

Good luck to Burnley and Dyche though.

I think if Burnley can keep their squad together and fit they'll surprise a few teams next season. Particularly pleased to see Ashley Barnes involved. He's a good guy, a real hard working and very modest professional and didn't deserve the stick he got from some of the utter morons in Brighton this season.

Good luck, would like to see you do well.

Ditto that. But Brighton is full of imbeciles would you not agree Brighton Royal  (well their fanbase is you'd think they were really Real Bayern Barca Milan the way they harp on about their club when really they are a shit club with shit fans who aren't much better than Crawley)

Anyway enough of them... I believe if we can bleed through our youngsters and get some high rollers off our wage bill (Drenthe as much as he was expected to do so well in this league has been appalling), keeping some quality such as Williams we might be able to succeed in a top 6 finish. The problem is unlike your club, Reading aren't very good at keeping our fans in the know. No one knows what's going on behind the scenes. All we do know is Anton has taken this club back 10 years.

Looking forward to your lot in the Prem. Think you will give it a real go. Unfortunately tho I don't think your rolling in the required money and it could therefore be very tough.

At the risk of upsetting the three monkeys, it takes two to tango or in this case took two parties to get us into the mess that we are now in. So a more accurate statement would be that the owners have taken this club back 10 years (albeit that Anton is the greater culprit of the two).

Anyway thanks burnleysupporter for your kind words and wishes and good luck in the Prem. Let's hope that the experience doesn't leave your supporters too disillusioned. Personally I'd rather the big boys took Sky and buggered off to play each other 8 times a season, leaving the rest of us to take part in a genuine competition to be Champions of the Championship each year.

Always enjoy reading your posts, but with regards to the Russians, they may have been very transient, but I would suggest it is not them that are being obstructive about a new deal being made...

To be fair, the fans of ours who went onto the pitch were idiots and probably deserved it. In the age of smartphones it doesn't take more than a click to see the scores from elsewhere, even then I don't think a pitch invasion to celebrate finishing 6th and qualifying for playoffs is acceptable given our track record in them.
