Yellowcoat Yes agreed but where is any evidence RFC is in arrears?

The comment about tax was for my own interest, as I believe this is where Rangers also became a little unstuck. As far as the legitimacy of this bill please see my previous comment further up the page. A £20M tax bill was only mentioned (as far as I can see) after another poster, taking about creditors, mentioned that the largest creditor is normally HMRC. I'm not saying it's bull, but I am surprised a figure of this sort of proportion had not been mentioned before on this thread. I leave others to draw their own conclusions.

Tilehurstsouthbank
Tilehurstsouthbank
AthleticoSpizz exactly

....and even if we aren't

Follow the Portsmouth model (and to a certain degree the Leicester one too)

Sold down the line, cheated all of their creditors (twice), sunk to the low of the lows ( a team comprised of loanees and nobody paid more than £2999 pw) ...and yet

Large crowds and great passionate support....that is all that matters.......f11ck the rest of the monetary and directorship stuff.....just start enjoying your football again

Could we see ourselves with crowds of 15k plus in Div 2?..................these days, yes, just maybe

+1 except for the crowds thing. You only have to trawl HNA to see how fickle some of our fans are.

if we go into administration does that mean we can close the Team Board down?

Be nice to think that the club might have picked up on the rumours and some anxiety amongst the customer (sorry, fan) base and perhaps wheeled SJM out for a end-of-season summing up of our plans for the summer and future prospects etc. Be a bit honest and say 'we're struggling and we're basing our future around some promising young players with the target of simply remaining in this division for the forseeable'. Might generate a bit of solidarity, y'know.

Instead, the RFC website currently leading with a story about some bloke called Shepherd scoring for the Scotland Under 18's and a 'Superb' win for the RFC Ladies team :|

I don't always agree with you Floyd, but for this I am a +1. An open admission of where we are at, would get a lot more respect. The continual tweets to the 18 young professional contracts offered was getting on my nerves, but it's ok my last weet was how sunny it is at Hogwood today.

The problem is if they come out and say how bad our finances are then you are just inviting the vultures to come and attack and thus removing a large part of your negotiating power. Plus your squad would become more unsettled with the attention from other clubs.

it is a difficult thing to get right, but first and foremost they have to do what is best for the club, not what is best for the fans.

To be fair, it was pretty a pretty superb win for the women's team

A superb win by the sound of it. Of course one of our goal scorers had to be an ex Gunner, never fails :)

Just called to renew my ST and was sold the debts of the club for £1 - bargain I say! Went for it ... and now my credit card isn't working anymore for some reason.

It was a great win and the good news is that I believe the Ladies team's funding is ring-fenced and secure. Far more grounds for optimism around the women's game, at club and country level, than the mens' at present!

AthleticoSpizz basically....who cares

What will be, will be.

(holds hand on chest and remembers Division 4 on a grassless pitch at EP under failing spotlights on a dank "power cut" Sunday afternoon)....oxf*rd loved it!

Get away from this SKY TV over-cashed and over-hyped mentality....

we may fall, but we will rise

just get back to enjoying the actual game

Yep, let's have one extreme or the other - stinking rich or back to roots. Both can be fun. It's the middle ground that we are currently in that often leads to the most disappointment and disillusionment.

Scutterbucketz I was talking to a friend of mine earlier today and her accountant husband is currently working closely with the club to try and sort the mess out. He specialises in insolvency and it's pretty much nailed on that we will go into administration. I haven't seen The Sun article but there is a lot of talk of a winding up order being issued (if it hasn't been already) due to a massive tax bill, so there is no other option.

If this is true, then the club and the husband should be having very strong words with the tongue wagging wife about client confidentiality!

Yellowcoat What complete nonsense - you do not pay tax on losses! More bullshit from the usual culprits.

I'm sorry but it's more a question of stupidity/ignorance on your part. If you employ people, you have to pay employers NI and any PAYE tax deducted. You also have to pay VAT on sales if you are VAT registered. Both situations apply to RFC and all of those payments have to be made to HMRC regardless of whether you are making a loss or not.

Not sure it's a good thing if the women's team are financially any different to the rest of the club. I think ring fencing Academy funding should be a way higher priority than the women's team. The women's game is never going to earn any revenue for the club whereas the Academy may be crucial. Women's football needs to either work out a way of becoming financially viable or adjust it's sights.

I would assume the women's side is less of an output than the academy, and if you look at the WSL and the BT deal etc. then it's on the right track.
